Eurobrats Headquarter @ Mount Everest – Part III: Beach Disco

Friday nights are party nights for the Eurobrats and their family and friends. The weekly party has a long tradition particular in SL terms of time. It has its roots back in 2008 when the Bratz Club was buildt in Rivers Rock. And since 2008 Virgo Babii hosts the Friday night party and she plays the music. After Goddess and her family left Rivers Rock the party survived. Listening to great music and chatting became a regular part of our SL and thus also of our RL Friday nights. And there’s always a different theme for every party. So we prepare for it, we look in our wardrobe to find an according outfit or we go shopping for something that is according in our opinion. And what we choose is also a good starter for the chat and for banters.
When Rivers Rock was closed, the club was lost. But we didn’t want to miss out our fun. So we build a new club, a smaller one in a skybox sphere at Dragon Cove and were able to keep the tradition up. We also created a new group for the invitation as we lost control over the group with the loss of Rivers Rock.
And now? When we moved to Mount Everest the first thing to do was to rebuild the club. In fact we didn’t even miss one Friday! As we have enough space on the island itself now we decided to give up the skybox sphere and to build the new club at the beach. You’ll find it in the West corner of Mount Everest. It’s an open air beach club. What an advantage of SL that we don’t have to care about rain or bad weather at all. When you set your environment in SL to sunset the place has a very particular light. So our parties go on. Thank you Virgo for the music and for hosting. Thank you all for keeping the party alive. It is our start into the weekend SL and RL.

If you want to attend just come by Friday 1 PM (SLT) / 9 PM (GMT). If you want to join our group just click the large board at the club itself. There’s no cost for joining and you’ll get a weekly reminder that it’s time again to dance and the theme of that night. Enjoy!

Eurobrats Headquarter @ Mount Everest – Part II: Campfire

When you arrive at Eurobrats Headquarter and stand in front of the orientation map and turn to the left you’ll see the campfire down at the beach in the Southwest of Mount Everest. It is easy to locate as the Eurobrat flag waves above it.
The campfire is our meeting place. The place is surrounded by palm trees and the familiar roar of the surf plays like background music while you sit and enjoy.
The campfire is where we chit-chat or have banters. It’s where we relax with friends. There’s a raft in the water by the campfire. When I have a rare moment of quietness I love to lay on it and let my mind wander. And when Jenny comes online and sees me there she joins me. It’s just a raft to lay and enjoy alone or together.

One hint about the flagpole. You’ll get the menu to use is as a dancepole when you click on it’s very base. And isn’t it very much enjoyable to have a sub dancing for you while you sit, chat and enjoy?

Eurobrats Headquarter @ Mount Everest – Part I: Overview

We had a busy time after the loss of our home. But as often seen before it turned out to be a great positive change. I persoanlly had considered buying a homestead several times and as our landlord stepped out of business giving our sim to “Dweeb” we already began to discuss a full sim, a homestead or another quartersim for us and our friends. We talked about performance and limits. A full sim would be great and would have a great performance and be quite lagfree but expensive. And even if we get enough renters or friends to share with us, would it spoil our fun in SL as we’d have to care about renters and about our budget? But renting ourself another 1/4 sim? Will we get into the same darn trouble with another landlord? Would we like to be threatened by being evicted because of nothing again? What about a homestead which is only residential and designed for up to 20 people online at a time? Will the performance be high enough?
Then all went much quicker than we imagined. And facts did accelerate our decision for a homested. In the meanwhile we can say that performance is well enough so far. Rezzing objects is strange as the object doesn’t appear immediately but with an time lag of about 2 to 5 seconds. We also had some bad days with lots of lag and even a total black-out of the whole sim for over 1 hour. But that day was bad in whole SL so it was not related to our sim. Anyway the decision is made. We moved. And now after developing the terrain, after our friends moved in and after a lot of exciting and truly enjoyable and satisfying work … now is the time to write about our new home. It’s time to save the initial layout for our diary. It’s time to present the new Eurobrats Headquarter at Mount Everest.

Our homestead consists of three islands which are connected by bridges. One island (Virgin Islands) belongs to our friends Virgo and Tyra. One islands (The Albatros) belongs to our friend Claven. And one island belongs to the Eurobrats.

The layout of Eurobrat Headquarter Island is shown in the orientation map below. It is the same map that you’ll see upon your arrival on our island. A teleporter system provides quick traveling (by the way a transportation system like this could solve a lot of problems in RL *grins). Or , even better, explore on foot. The main spots to visit are: Campfire, Beach disco, Sub’s Shangri-La, Headquarters, the “Keep”, the games and our Hotel CA (still located in a skybox). You’re invited to explore on your own but be aware of traps.

After this overview we will publish an short entry about each point of interest in the upcoming week(s). So stay tuned.

What a week

As Domita said we were evicted at short notice from Dragon Cove. Just to explain how short the notice was, we were talking sitting in a chair made for two when without warning I was in freefall and by the time I hit the ground the quarter sim we rented between us was empty.

This week has been busy. Without a doubt.

We found a Homestead and within minutes we had decided that it was the place for us.

A blank sheet and lots to do it was also an oportunity to learn more about the place (SL) that fills our life. I asked if I might be allowed to try my hand at a bit of landscaping and after about 6 hours on day two I was surprised by how much I had learnt and done. A sim with the name of Mount Everest deserves a feature and I found out that using a snow texture in the region settings and playing with the height spread I made something that looks quite natural.

Now the rush…….

We both wanted so much to have everything ready for our Friday night Disco.

Ideas were swapped and a lot of work was done by all so that we had everything in place.

Thank you very much to Virgo and Starry for helping with the finishing touches. We always wanted the Friday night dances to be something for everybody in an inclusive way and tonight I felt that it all came together as best as it ever could. It really did feel like family and friends coming together for a relaxing dance and chat. As always there is banter and most of all great music.

After all the negative feelings of being evicted and fighting for our rent owed, within 3 days we were dancing in the sunset with some of the nicest people in SL.

Life is what you make it.

That is true for RL and SL alike.

We have one hell of time together and I am sure Fridays will get bigger and better in our new home.

Love to you all

Jen

Bye Bye Dweeb

A couple of weeks ago our landlord stepped out of business and sold the sim we were living at to the guy who was our neighbor. Just after he took over, we gave him the nickname “dweeb” because he restarted the sim with no warning and pulled in 75 people for a party. He must have felt very cool. Then he demanded to get access to all our private rooms for maintenance as he called it but in reality he only wanted to spy on us. Then he blamed us for causing lag on his sim as he wants to streamline it for even larger parties. To shorten the story, dweeb found a security system deep inside a prison, called it breach of contract and evicted us within 60 min not even taking into account that we might be not online all the time. And then we got our rent refund only after filing AR’s to LL.

We expected this all the moment we met him. We thought we would have time to move, but we had not. Anyway, bye bye dweeb!!

We bought a new place, a homestead, no dweebs. And we’re just settling. Next Friday we will re-open the Club Eurobrats and hopefully can focus on our fun again for a long time.

Welcome to Eurobrats Headquarter in Mount Everest (what a great name!)
