Simploring 2018 (47) The Jewell Theatre – SNOW

For my simploring tour on Monday, May 28th, I picked “The Jewell Theatre – SNOW” from scoop.it SL Destinations: “Welcome to your new reality. In a dystopian future, made white with ice and snow…Welcome to the world of SNOW, the Jewell Theatre’s latest Play

Impressions of “The Jewell Theatre – SNOW” (1)

The Jewell Theatre – SNOW” is an installation within the LEA Program and can be visited until June 30th. It was buildt by Fake Jewell and her group of artists, the Jewell Theatre. The Jewell Theatre run their own homepage “The Jewell Theatre“. They perform live, full length plays in Second Live. Each production brings a real theatre experience to audiences whilst embracing the opportunities a virtual space provides. The performance SNOW is on Saturday, June 9th at 3:00pm and on Sunday, June 10th at 12 noon (PST).

Impressions of “The Jewell Theatre – SNOW” (2)

The theme of the sim and I assume as well the subject of the performance is the destruction of the earth by the mankind, be it climate, forest or wildlife. The sim should give us an impression of how a destroyed planet might look like. There’s just ruins left over, it is cold, foggy and surreal.
The main place is surrounded by ruins. Three of the ruins contain theme rooms about decorestation, wildfile and climate change, there are boards with graphics and facts and when you click them you can either download the graphic or get more information or are led to a youtube video. “The Jewell Theatre – SNOW” is an educational Installation.

Impressions of “The Jewell Theatre – SNOW” (3)

Somewhere close to the main place at the ruins of an harbour you’ll find more about plastic waste and other threats for our planet. The mankind is living in bunkers below of the surface. The entrance to the is also close to the main place.

Impressions of “The Jewell Theatre – SNOW” (4)

Whate else? There’s also the theatre itself where the perfomance will be next weekend and there’s a rehearsal shack. I also found a pavillion where you can leave your pledge for your personal contribution to save our planet.
The Jewell Theatre – SNOW” impresses with it’s grey and white atmosphere, that shall provide a picture of how our environment might look like in a not too far future if the mankind doesn’t stop the destruction of the planet earth. There’re a lot of facts and figures you can get by every board to enhance your knowledge about environmental issues.

Thank you Fake Jewell and The Jewell Theatre for this educational sim and good luck for the performances June 9th/10th.

Simploring 2018 (46) Backdrop Village …. Somewhere Over There

Thursday, May 24th, I found time for some simploring again. I picked “Backdrop Village …. Somewhere Over There” from scoop.it SL Destinations.
Backdrop Village is pretty much what you expect when reading the decription – a village created for roleplay and photography. The landing point is at a corner of a sky platform in a redlight destrict. I zoomed out to see the whole platform and yes it is a backdrop village and town consisting of facades. But just like in a film you won’t notice it when standing in front of it! The selection of different buildings covers a broad variety and there’s something for every scene.

Backdrop Village – overview of “Village” and “Urban”

But Backdrop Village is not just what you see around the landing point. Close to the landing point is a teleporter that brings you to other locations or themes like “Redlight, Kawaii, Darkside, Fantasy, Neon, Beach”. The platform where you land belongs to themes “Village” and “Urban”.

Backdrop Village: at the “Village” (left pictures) / at “Redlight” (right pictures)

The destinations Kawaii, Darkside, Fantasy, and Neon offer between 10 and 20 different backdrops around the according theme. There are only some backdrops where you can select poses. For most of the backdrops you need to rezz your own prop or poseball, which is allowed. Your props or poseballs will be returned after 30 minutes.

Backdrop Village: “Kawaii”

Backdrop Village: “Darkside”

I took a lot of pictures. I love the offered variety and I hope to remember Backdrop Village when searching a perfect place for a picture. For those of you that share my passion for taking pictures, this is a place to go to.

Backdrop Village: “Fantasy”

The destination “Beach” is on the ground level and you get what you expect – a backdrop for beach pictures. Of course I took a selfie there as well!

Backdrop Village: at “Neon” (left pictures) / at the “Beach” (right pictures)

Backdrop Village: more pictures taken at “Village” and “Urban”

Backdrop Village is owned by SnowWolf (Rdinry) and according to the notecard that you get upon landing SnowWolf’s partner Cali (Calisselyra) is involved as well in the sim.
I really enjoyed exploring and discovering Backdrop Village. Thank you for providing this place for roleplay and photography, SnowWolf – and thank you for the lovely pictures I could take there!

Simploring 2018 (45) Silent

My simploring tour Wednesday, May 16th, led me to “Silent“. I found the landmark together with several pictures in AJ’s Second Life – Travel Guide. Thank you, AJ (anyajurelle).

Impressions of “Silent” by Air Angel (aair) (1)

There’s not much information about “Silent” – “Hang out, lounge, explore the art, Photographer Machinama friendly!” is all you get with the landmark description. You should turn media on, use the region’s windlight setting and set your draw distance to at least 300m.

Impressions of “Silent” by Air Angel (aair) (2)

Silent” is surreal and impresses with it’s visual effects. The ground texture of the sim background hills is very colourful and is moving, hence the sim background looks like waves, coloured waves. The windlight setting results in a purple/violet sky and you can also see an aurora borealis.

Impressions of “Silent” by Air Angel (aair) (3)

The sim itself consists of several islands, that are not connected, some are flat, some are rocky and high. There are some buildings that look surreal just because of the purple sky. Near the landing you encounter several pieces of art by Mistero Hifeng, an artist who’s work you recognize immediately by is particular style. You will find other pieces of art from different artists spread all over the sim.
Also quite outstanding is a huge white sculpture of a drowning person between the islands. You just see the head and the arms. It’s called “[GW] Liquid Sculpture II” by Groll (Groll Greggan).

Impressions of “Silent” by Air Angel (aair) (4)

There are places to sit and mediate watching the scenery. Big coloured balls fall from the sky onto the ground or onto the sea and roll amd bump into eachother before vanishing. Air Angel (aair), the owner of “Silent“, created them. These media balls, the sim’s background with the coloured waves, the purple sky, the few buildings and the art do all mix together into a fitting composition. Air Angel selected an psychedelic music stream that also adds to the experience.

Impressions of “Silent” by Air Angel (aair) (5)

Silent” is a piece of art itself, that you should see. Thank you, Air Angel!

Simploring 2018 (44) 2ᴇʟᴡƎ

Saturday, May 12th, I went simploring again. I picked “2ᴇʟᴡƎ“, a homestead designed by Miuccia Klaar and Squonk Levenque, from scoop.it SL Destinations. I also read two blog posts about 2ᴇʟᴡƎ, one from Kate Bergdorf titeled “2ᴇʟᴡƎ” (read here) and one from Maddy Gynoid “Simtipp: 2ᴇʟᴡƎ” written in German (read here).

The landing is on a skyplatform with a chequerboard pattern, You’re welcome by a little robot “SiM DRONE S.5 whispers: Welcome Diomita, thanks for bringing some colors in 2ELWE! Make a phone call for a notecard.

Landing Point and first impressions of “2ᴇʟᴡƎ”

In fact there is a sofa, a few trees and a phone and the phone gives you the above mentioned notecard. The notecard contains no information about “2ᴇʟᴡƎ” itself, it recommends to keep the sim’s windlight settings and proposes a few alternatives.
From the skyplatform you come through a trap door and a long tunnel to the sim itself.

Impressions of “2ᴇʟᴡƎ”: The start and the end of a film at the Ends of the road, the 12 birds, the 12 dolls

2ᴇʟᴡƎ” is a sim in grey, just like an old film in black and white. The atmosphere is particular and it rains at many spots. The rain is an important style element at “2ᴇʟᴡƎ” and alternates between a few drops and heavy rain. In the middle of the sim is one straight road lined with telegraph posts. At one end is a billboard showing the start sequence of an old film counting back from 8 to 0 and then fading into the word “2ᴇʟᴡƎ“, at the other end is the ending sequence of an old film showing a man who pulls down a screen with the word “The End”.

Impressions of “2ᴇʟᴡƎ”: along the road

Along the road you’ll find 2 installations, one with 12 brids and one with 12 dolls. The dolls are quite impressing, they have a darkended forehead and do look upwards into the sky as if praying. Along the road are more billboards all showing very short scenes of an old movie.

Impressions of “2ᴇʟᴡƎ”: spots and Scenes in the mountains

The straight road parts the sim in two halfs. One half has some mountains and you can find litte spots with other art installations within the mountains. You can even sit there at several places and watch the scenery.
The other half is dominanted by 2 artificial tree-like buildings that you can climb up to get another view and by an old abanndoned plant site where you find 12 monkeys who play on the old structures. I also noticed some other animals, like a dog on the road or another single bird in the old plant site. Within the plant I discovered a cinema build into an old storage tank. I first thought it’s a night club because of the illuminated advertising “Girls”

Impressions of “2ᴇʟᴡƎ”: at the abandoned plant site (except upper left)

2ᴇʟᴡƎ” can be pronouced as “twelve” and the number 12 plays obviously an important role at the sim. Kate Bergdorf suspects in her blog that the sim is a reminiscence of the movie “12 Monkeys” (read here in wikipedia). I’m no cineast and I didn’t see this movie, hence I can’t judge. The 12 birds though reminded me of Alfred Hitchcock’s birds.

More impressions of “2ᴇʟᴡƎ”

2ᴇʟᴡƎ” is impressive because of it’s dense and scary atmosphere, it’s surreal, yet it is fantasic for taking artful pictures. I enjoyed my visit.
Thank you, Miuccia Klaar and Squonk Levenque for providing this piece of art for us all.

P.S.: this blog post contains 2 * 12 pictures *winks*

Diary 2018 (80) May 9th The Rostrum

Wednesday, May 9th, I met slave kelly in the late afternoon. She was at home due to a restart of Lochme, luckily she managed to go home. I teased my slave toy a bit and she was allowed to watch me as I added the new clothes which I got the night before at H@S to my wardrobe.

May 8th: DIomita with slave kelly / Mistress Jenny, Diomita, Angelique and slave drone Flo at home

Our night was quite varied. Mistress Jenny and I met Angelique and slave drone Flo at home and caught up with all of our news. Angelique was allowed to change and I selected the dress she got from Mistress Jenny the night before. Together we went simploring and visited “The Rostrum“.

May 8th: Impressions of “The Rostrum”

The Rostrum“, owned by Elissa (elissabeth.larsson), is a slave trading port currently overrun with pirates, slavers, slaves, and other assorted scum. It has been totally refurbished just recently and the refurbishment isn’t finished yet. The Rostrum is a roleplay sim with a mediecal setting.
Elissa took great care to make it look authentic. She also placed several mesh statues to make it look more alive even when there’s none around. We had a look into several buildings and got a first impression. It’s all very fitting to the theme! For sure “The Rostrum” is a great place for roleplaying.

May 8th: Mistress Jenny, Diomita, Angelique and slave drone Flo at the Lesbian D/s Mature&Young Society / at home playing Skipee / Mistress Jenny and slave kelly at home

After our short visit to “The Rostrum”, we had a look at the Lesbian D/s Mature&Young Society and at the current exhibition of pictures dealing with “humilation”. Then we relaxed and played a round of Skipee (Angelique won it). slave kelly joined us just before it was time for us to go to bed, but there was still enough time to tease our slave toy.

Simploring 2018 (43) Kerupa Flow – If the Mind is Absent

Wednesday, May 9th, I visited “If the Mind is Absent“, an installation by Kerupa Flow within the LEA program.
Kerups writes in the landmark’s description “When something feels meaningful, I notice my own mind. Is it just a form? Or is it standing at the rare moment that my heart meets your heart?
This description is a good start. At the landing point there’s a bit more information, in English and in Japanese, as Kerupa is from Japan.

Kerupa Flow’s “If the Mind is Absent” – at the landing Point

Things differ depending on the viewers.
Physics? No, in my mind, in your mind.

Sometimes it’s a mistake
But illusion is a fun toy.
Sometimes it is a political confrontation.
It may be that we are opening our eyes at the risk of life.

I think that my sense of reality may have changed significantly in 2011.
It was a year of major disaster in Japan.
The things that are happening at that time reflect something in my work.
I myself often do not notice about it whan making.
I’m thinking about the meaning again while surrounding my past works.

Looking up at the sky at night, the stars away from the eyes’ focus are more clearly visible. I hope my work show things like that way.
I’m happy if you can enjoy my world a bit off the reality.

As much as possible, I will explain the meaning of what I made.
I know that it will not be the end of what you seeing.

enjoy

Impressions of Kerupa Flow’s “If the Mind is Absent” (1)

Impressions of Kerupa Flow’s “If the Mind is Absent” (2)

If the Mind is Absent” consits of a center piece that clearly is an interpretation of the Tsunami in Japan 2011. Around of this center piece are other works of Kerupa, maybe exibited before as single objects. They are either displayed stand alone or are in seperate rooms that you can walk into. The room “Invisible” deals with the catastrophy of 2011 again.
Kerupa works with optical illusions. No projectors are used but what you see depends on where you stay and look at. To experience Kerupa’s work you shouldn’t use your camera too much but walk around instead, walk into the art, feel it literally.
There are many heads, some are quite artifical and can be seen just from a certain viewing angel, otherwise they look like a chunk of prims. Other heads have a face on each side, that looks at you, but it is an optical illusion.
Another element of Kerupa’s art are silhouettes of humans and last but not least Kerupa uses optical illusions that draw you into the art. It is that you see always something different depending on where you are, that makes Kerupa’s work that particular.

Impressions of Kerupa Flow’s “If the Mind is Absent” (3)

Impressions of Kerupa Flow’s “If the Mind is Absent” (4)

I spent an hour at “If the Mind is Absent” and I still haven’t discovered everything. Kerupa’s art lets your mind roam, it is relaxing to just open your mind and let it happen. Memories, my own memories did pop up. My mind is never absent, I can’t switch it off. I interpret “If the Mind is Absent” as “If your mind roams, if your mind doesn’t deal with everyday life issues, if your mind does see soemthing that isn’t there (optical illusion).
I also got a new insight of what the catastropy of Fukushima meant to the people of Japan. It did not just destroy a whole region but it also destroyed the trust in technical progress, the trust in a better life and what is left are memories and chaos.
At most pieces you’ll find texts in English and in Japanese about the art and what Kerupa had in mind with it. There’s also recommendations of how to set your windlight setting (some art looks best set to “midnight”).

Impressions of Kerupa Flow’s “If the Mind is Absent” (5)

Impressions of Kerupa Flow’s “If the Mind is Absent” (6)

I took a lot of pictures again, but the pictures can’t reflect the three dimensional experience which is much more intense. Best is to see it yourself.

I like Kerupa Flow’s art and I’m very impressed of “If the Mind is Absent“. The installation should be open at least until June 30th. Thank you Kerupa for your work!

Diary 2018 (76) May 3rd Darkness Estate

Thursday, May 3rd, I met with Mistress Jenny in the afternoon. We went to Heavy Bondage club and to Domme a Domme, caught up and enjoyed togetherness, then we had a round of skipee with slave Flo but we had to stop it as it was time to tend to our RL.

May 3rd at Domme a Domme: Mistress Jenny and Ehesklavin Diomita

At night, Mistress Jenny was off due to RL. I took slave Flo on a kinkploring tour to “Darkness Estate“. I had the landmark on my list for quite a while. I grabbed it from a profile when we were in a club quite a while ago. This is what I grabbed:
Darkness Estate is the home of Mistress Kurumi (Kurumi Choche) and her property. It’s free to visit, explore, play and to have fun. Just remember the most important three rules
1. Mistress Kurumi is always right, doesn’t matter who you are, it’s her home so her word is law.
2. Stay out of the Mistress’s manor unless invited, if she wants to grace you with her presence you’ll know
3. Don’t be an eyesore! a not so small fortune is consistently spent trying to improve upon the estate so that its not just a box with toys in it, so if the estate can be presentable, so can you.”

Darkness Estate Overview

The landmark description is quite similar: “Estate of Empress Kurumi and her pets follow the rules of the Estate an the Empress’s word is Law : Domme Hypnosis Hypno Control Transformation Bondage Drone Findomme Ponygirl Piggy Hucow Objectification BDSM Lab Bimbo Bimbofication Sissy T-Girl Toy Doll

Impressions of Darkness Estate (1)

Darkness Estate is on a large plot at the adult full sim ot Folsom Pines and it has a lot to offer.
In the town you can spend quite some time exploring. There’s a playroom, a night club, a cafe, a store for fetish clothes, a pet shop, an animal clinic, some pony carts, a gallery, a huge dungeon in an old plant building, a farm, pony stables and a park with podests for human statues. And we didn’t look into each building, so there’s for sure more to discover! I was quite impressed. Everything is build with an eye for the detail and there’s something for many kinks as the above tag list already indicates.

Impressions of Darkness Estate (2)

Impressions of Darkness Estate (3)

We also approached the manor of Mistress Kurumi but got a warning not to proceed already when we got close to the gate. During the time of our visit we were alone at Darkness Estate. You can join a group to get aware of events and of what is going on there.
Overall, Darkness Estate is a place I will revisit some day soon to further explore it or for playing. Thank you Mistress Kurumi (Kurumi Choche) for providing large parts of your place to the public.

May 3rd: Diomita with slave Flo at Mesmerize Dungeon / another weired eye candy

After our kinkploring tour I took slave Flo to Mesmerize Dungeon and we had relaxing time there chatting and watching and we also got another weired eye candy.

Simploring 2018 (42) Serendipitous Sands

Diomita on the beach!
Thursday night, May 3rd, I made a simploring tour again. I selected “Serendipitous Sands” from scoop.it SL Destinations and read the post of Isabella Coletti (Belladochas Minoptra) about it in her blog “The Second Life Tourist“.

Serendipitous Sands overview and Diomita on the beach

Serendipitous Sands is a beach sim, consisting of several smaller islands. Large parts of Serendipitous Sands are public, on some islands are beach homes, that are rented out. As they are private I kept off.
There’s not that much to write about Serendipitous Sands, but there’s a lot to see and to try out, in particular there’re a lot of beach chairs and other beach furniture and places to sit and dream. The sim offers a beautiful background for pictures and of course I took a lot of pictures! This way you’re going to see me on the beach *winks*.

Simploring 2018 (41) Cicamobiles

I came across a little exhibtion of Cica Ghost’s litte cars following Inara Pey’s blog where she published “Cica at Paris Metro in Second Life” on May 1st. And since I discovered Cica Ghost’s art in Second Life I try not to miss any of her installations or exhibtions.
There are some elements in Cica’s art installations that are unique and you recognize her objects and creations immediately. There are these fantastic, mostly oversized, animals with a human expressions in their faces, often looking content and happy or expressing strong feelings. And there are her two-dimensional stick figures, which are often animated. In Cica’s latest installations she offered little cars to drive around which were adapted to the theme. At Paris METRO Art Gallery these cars are exhibited and I called them “Cicamobiles”.

“Cicamobiles” at Paris METRO Art Gallery: Catomoblie with animated picture “Night traveler” in the background (upper right) / MouseCar and BirdCar with animated pictures “She” and “He” in the background, on the left is the animated “cyclist on the wall” (upper right) / UmbrellaCar (lower left) / FlowerCar (lower right)

It’s not a big exhibition but it is nice to see all the cicamobiles together at one place and seeing them remembered me of my visits to Cica’s installations. In total there are 4 drivable cars (Catomobile, MouseCar, BirdCar, FlowerCar) and 3 non-drivable cars (UmbrellaCar, CrocoCar, Cica’s Bus) exhibited at Paris METRO Art Gallery.
At the entrance, just next to the Catomobile you see Cica’s animated picture “Night traveler” and on the other side appears “cyclist on the wall”, one of her famous stick figures. At the wall behind the MouseCar and the BirdCar are two more animated stick figures riding bicycles named “She” and “He”.

“Cicamobiles” at Paris METRO Art Gallery: Cica’s Bus (upper left) / CorcoCar (upper right) / Cicamoblies overview (lower left) / animated pictures “She” and “He” closeup (lower right)

A really small but nice exhibtion which made me look forward seeing Cica’s next work, hopefully soon.
Thank you, Cica!
Thank you rfb morpock, who founded the Paris METRO Art Gallery and thank you, Shiloh Emmons, Director of the Gallery.

Simploring 2018 (40) Light Thoughts 4

Saturday, April 28th, I visited “Light Thoughts 4” within the Linden Endowment for the Arts (LEA) program at LEA 26 and LEA 27. It is a joint installation by Mario2 Helstein and Jo Williams following their joint installation last year (Light Thoughts 3 – read here).

Landing at “Light Thoughts 4”

The landing of Light Thoughts 4 is on the boarder between LEA 26 and LEA 27, Mario2 Helstein has designed LEA 27 and Jo Williams LEA 26. Just like last year’s installtion the sides are different, both are colourful and full of light and effects. I started my visit at LEA 27. To me it looks like a mixture of an aquarium and a jungle, yet all animals live peacefully together. What catches your eye first is the dinosaur that walks up and down along the landing point. But there are more animals, hugs crabs, sharks, cuttlefish, crocodiles. All are artfully coloured.
In the middle of the installation is a big structure of green tubes that looks being alive, it might have tentacles. The floor is wet und provides light effects. There’s a lot to discover and a lot to take pictures of. Soon you get lost in this colourful fantasy world. There are also some humans, one looks like a robot, a few small humans are walking around in a secured area … and one is just a dead body. The installation is oustanding because of the colours and the light effects that produce different views every second.

Impressions of “Light Thoughts 4” at LEA 27 (1)

Impressions of “Light Thoughts 4” at LEA 27 (2)

The other part of Light Thoughts 4 is at LEA 26 and is by Jo Williams and it is quite as colourful as LEA 27. It looks like a park somewhere in the galaxy. A large open area is surrounded by seperate gardens, there are several pyramides and the planets are close. There are flowers, benches to sit and relax and little cosy areas. When you zoom out you can see that some plants form a heart. The two big violin clefs reminded me to turn music on. It’s the kind of music that Mario also uses for his light shows and it does fit well.

Impressions of “Light Thoughts 4” at LEA 26 (1)

Impressions of “Light Thoughts 4” at LEA 26 (2)

I tried using one of the balloons to fly around a bit but it didn’t work properly during my visit and I flew just a few meters. I remembered the ballons from my visit to Light Thoughts 3.

I enjoyed a colourful hour at Light Thoughts 4 and took a lot of pictures. I love all the colours and effects. Of course a picture can’t always transport all dimensions of an installation. Together with my invitation I got a link to a video that might give another insight of this installation.

Thank you Mario (Mario2 Helstein) and Jo (Jo Williams) for this installation. I enjoyed my visit and taking lots of pictures!
