Simploring 2019 (21) L’Azile

Annie Oh (anniebrightstar), who runs the scoop.it SL Destinations, gave me a notecard with landmarks for a place named L’Azile. She said the sim might be a destination for one of my simploring tours. The notecard contained some descriptions for the provided landmarks. On Sunday, February 10th, I went to L’Azile

L’Azile – overview

L’Azile is an adult place taking about one half of a full sim. It is owned by Boro Moretto (boromir22). As far as I understood also Boro’s partner Loony Moretto (Louna Perl) is involved as well as Zoé (zoeliah) as gardener and builder. Upon landing you get a description in English and one in French and a notcard explaining the background of L’Azile and it’s adult D/s background. I used excerpts of these notecards and from the landmark descriptions, that I got from Annie for my simploring report.

Impressions of L’Azile (1) – around the lnding pint (lower left is a statue of Mistero Hifeng)

L’Azile was created as a space to relax in a welcoming setting, reminding of a beach holiday. It also has a private residential area and you’re kindly asked to respect the privacy. L’Azile is first of all a friendly place with a little taste of craziness. The inhabitants are called Zinzins, that means nicely crazy, in French. Founded by French people, L’Azile is not strictly a franco sim although many zinzins speak French. A lot, but not all of them, speak (also) English.

Impressions of L’Azile (2) – the bar

Boromir, Loony and Zoe are French. They ran a D/s sim on SL or quite a long time, that they closed when they got the feeling it wasn’t fitting their expectations anymore. Yet L’Azile is more than a D/s sim. First of all it is intended to be a little crazy tourism resort. It radiates the spirit of a summer vacation resort with some funny and crazy places. In terms of D/s there is a D/s manor, a kinky church and a few seats dispersed in the sim. And there’s art not only in L’Azile‘s own art Gallery.

Impressions of L’Azile (3) – the gallery, currently showing the art of Sofi (Bachi Cheng).

The landing place itself offers already places to sit and funny things to look at. Close ot the landing place is a beach with more opportunities to sit at a campfire or to mediate while floating in one of the inflatable swimming objects. What caught my eyes was a statue from Mistero Hifeng (not the only piece of him that you could find here) and the female legs that peek out of the bay. Next to the bay is the bar. The interior of this bar mirrors the intention of L’Azile, it’s a bit crazy and funny and did conjure a smile in my face.

Impressions of L’Azile (4) – the art collection

Of course I visited the gallery. Currently there’s an exhibtion showing pictures of the RL art of Sofi (Bachi Cheng). If you’re interested in art within SL don’t miss also seeing the art collection, a house with art from several artists, pieces that were collected by the owners of L’Azile. I enjoyed it!

Impressions of L’Azile (5) – the D/s Manor

No surprise that I had a closer look at the D/s manor. It has 3 very stylish rooms for BDSM, a perfect place to go to get some variety. I really like it. What I liked even more was the church which is perfect for weddings and collarings. I will spread the word and might use it for upcoming events within our family & friends group.

Impressions of L’Azile (6) – the kinky church

There’s really so much to see in L’Azile! I didn’t mention yet the outdoor cinema, the motel, the bath house, the romantic place to cuddle close to the gallery and the wildlife where you can get close to hippos and other animals. Not to mention all the lovely spots to sit and enjoy. I spent almost 2 hours and just got a first impression. Alone the art that is spread around the sim is worth another visit and I didn’t see all of it for sure. I also discovered another gallery close by, Gallery Pinot Gris, that I might want to explore soon.

Impressions of L’Azile (7) – the bathouse, the motel, the camping and the wildlife

Enough words, L’Azile is another place that fits into my Second Life with a beautiful environment, lots of art, obviously home for a tolerant and open minded community and a kinky D/s corner. Thank you Boro Moretto (boromir22) for providing this place to us all!

Simploring 2019 (19) Windhaven

For my simploring tour on Wednesday, February 6th, I picked Windhaven from scoop.it SL Destinations, an adult homestead. The landmark description consists mostly of tags:
forest, camp, beach, flickr, photography, vlogger, blogger, poses, photo, harbor, ciy, bar, vintage, river, rain, hills, ruin, music, photogenic, roleplay and bdsm friendly“.
As far as I could find out Windhaven is owned by Lennox Johnson (xxlennox) and Manuel Crumb. The landing is close to the court of a small town located directly at the shore.

Windhaven – overview

Upon landing you’ll get a notecard with some simple rules, for example you shouldn’t run around naked outside although Windhaven is an adult sim. In Lennox’ profile I found a short text about Windhaven:
Windhaven is a peaceful Lakeside Town with a lovely countryside. Visitors are welcome to explore the many photogenic spots, just take in the ambience or enjoy your own roleplay. Windhaven is also BDSM friendly. Take a flight and enjoy your stay!

Impressions of Windhaven (1) – Landing point and bar

I began my tour at the court and visited the bar, just close to the landing. It offers places to sit and a billard table, a really cosy place. The court itself and the row of town houses impressed me by the love for the detail with which it is created, a really picturesque spot. There’s a boutique, a tailor, a cafe and an apothecary, all of them furnitured and the shop-windows look really great.

Impressions of Windhaven (2) – The town

I continued my tour visiting the camping and vacation village, a nice spot offering a lot of opportunities to sit. You can go fishing or sit at a campfire and enjoy the nature.

Impressions of Windhaven (3) – Camping and vacation village

From there it is not far to the ruins. It is raining there. Thank god you don’t need an umbrella in Second Life. If you enter the ruins and walk around it you’ll find many places to sit and enjoy on the backside. I continued walking into the forest and there’s a lot of it in Windhaven. But it was worth going further as I got a great view on the lighthouse from here.

Impressions of Windhaven (4) – The ruins in the rain / the forest

Windhaven is varied and provides a bit of everything .. what’s missing? – a beach. It is called Sunbeach and located close to the lighthouse. There’s also an abandoned house, yet there’s not much to see inside (or I didn’t notice it), it’s just messy as it would look after being left for years.

Impressions of Windhaven (5) – Sunbeach (upper pictures) / the Mansion (lower pictures)

The most outstanding house in Windhaven is a big mansion between the town and the beach. In front of it are 2 statues from Mistero Hifeng, a renowned artist in Second Life. At the entrance of the mansion is a sign “This is not a brothel. There are no prostitutes at the adress”. The sign for me was the clear hint that I entered the adult part of Windhaven. The mansion just has 3 rooms:
– a central large hall will a swimming pool, areas to sit and to have an event, a piano and stylish decorations.
– a library which looked very cosy to me (I didn’t try but I assume there’re some adult poses hidden in there
– a stylish bdsm playroom resembling more to a night club than to a dungeon.

Impressions of Windhaven (6) – inside the mansion / ending my tour on the roof of a townhouse (lower right)

My tour ended at the town again. I went on the roof of one town house and enjoyed looking over the court.
Windhaven is first of all a sim offering a lot of great views and backgrounds. I was impressed by it’s variety. I personally liked the little town most, but for me with my (not secret kinks) also the mansion was a highlight of my visit, that I really enjoyed. Thank you Lennox Johnson (xxlennox) and Manuel Crumb for sharing your place with the public!

Simploring 2018 (82) Destiny Gardens

Inspired once again by scoop.it SL Destinations and the pictures published by AJ (anyajurelle) in her blog “AJ’s Second Life – Travel Guide” I had a look at Inara Pey’s blog post “Destiny Gardens in Second Life” and decided to visited Destiny Gardens.

Impressions of Destiny Gardens (1) – around the landing point

Destiny Gardens is a full, moderate sim owned by Destiny Milos and as I learned from Inara’s post it was primarily landscaped by Adalynne Romano (AdalynneReed). To put it in one word – it is just beautiful!
At the landing point are places to sit and to play chess and I discovered a sculpture created by Mistero Hifeng. During my visit I came across of some more of Mistero Hifeng’s sculptures, most of them I had seen before. They add perfectly into the beautiful environment. The landing point area, that is located on a hill, I went down to the shore and took the trail that leads you around the island and into the inside.

Impressions of Destiny Gardens (2)

I personally was overwhelmed by the views. The ground is covered by blooming wild flowers, the trees are planted thoughtfully to provide shade and to add to the composition of colours. The trails lead over all kinds of bridges that you’d expect in a garden. And there are a lot more places to stop and sit down admiring the beauty of nature, a true virtual paradise.

Impressions of Destiny Gardens (3) – around the two residential houses

Exploring Destiny Gardens you will find 2 residential homes that blend in perfectly, their roofs are covered with moss, their own gardens are neat and offer more places to sit again.

Impressions of Destiny Gardens (4)

I also found an French garden with accurate cut hedges and, what a contrast, with several buxus cut into the form of a bunny. Behind the formal garden is another patio that invites to sit down and relax.

Impressions of Destiny Gardens (5)

I spent an hour admiring Destiny Gardens and taking pictures and had a very enjoyable time. Thank you, Destiny Milos for providing your lovely place to the public.

Simploring 2018 (45) Silent

My simploring tour Wednesday, May 16th, led me to “Silent“. I found the landmark together with several pictures in AJ’s Second Life – Travel Guide. Thank you, AJ (anyajurelle).

Impressions of “Silent” by Air Angel (aair) (1)

There’s not much information about “Silent” – “Hang out, lounge, explore the art, Photographer Machinama friendly!” is all you get with the landmark description. You should turn media on, use the region’s windlight setting and set your draw distance to at least 300m.

Impressions of “Silent” by Air Angel (aair) (2)

Silent” is surreal and impresses with it’s visual effects. The ground texture of the sim background hills is very colourful and is moving, hence the sim background looks like waves, coloured waves. The windlight setting results in a purple/violet sky and you can also see an aurora borealis.

Impressions of “Silent” by Air Angel (aair) (3)

The sim itself consists of several islands, that are not connected, some are flat, some are rocky and high. There are some buildings that look surreal just because of the purple sky. Near the landing you encounter several pieces of art by Mistero Hifeng, an artist who’s work you recognize immediately by is particular style. You will find other pieces of art from different artists spread all over the sim.
Also quite outstanding is a huge white sculpture of a drowning person between the islands. You just see the head and the arms. It’s called “[GW] Liquid Sculpture II” by Groll (Groll Greggan).

Impressions of “Silent” by Air Angel (aair) (4)

There are places to sit and mediate watching the scenery. Big coloured balls fall from the sky onto the ground or onto the sea and roll amd bump into eachother before vanishing. Air Angel (aair), the owner of “Silent“, created them. These media balls, the sim’s background with the coloured waves, the purple sky, the few buildings and the art do all mix together into a fitting composition. Air Angel selected an psychedelic music stream that also adds to the experience.

Impressions of “Silent” by Air Angel (aair) (5)

Silent” is a piece of art itself, that you should see. Thank you, Air Angel!

Simploring 2017 (41) – Surreal Chess Wonderland

Inspired by Inara Pey’s blog post “A Chess Wonderland in Second Life” I went exploring Chess Wonderland – The Life of Black and White. “Chess is all about black and white trying to conquer each other. There is no grey in chess and same goes for life.” is the description of the landmark.

Chess Wonderland is surreal. The ground is made of black and white squares yet not flat but undulating. Right close to the landimg point is a sculpture of Mistero Hifeng “Siamo diversi”, a figure sitting on a bench. If you walk a bit further you’ll see a stage with some muscians. Those are contributed by Cica Ghost. It looks that I come across these two artist quite often on my simploring tours. Chess Wonderland is enclosed in a box, the wall glow in different colours of a rainbow and on the ceiling is one large light that illumintes the scenery together with the glowing wall. The preset ambient is foggy and mysterty. You can find all chessmen spread over the installation, there’s also one real battlefield where the chessmen are in close-quarters fighting. In one corner of the isntallation is a big castle, which rooms to explore. Some parts of the castle are fake though, contain no rooms and you can fly through it walls. On one of the roofs are a black and a white sofa and you can sit there to watch the scenery and to suck in the impressions. There are for sure a lot of symbols hidden not only in the castle but also in the installation itself. Everybody has to interpret them individually. For me it was like diving into a battlefield and not looking at a game. It lifts chess into another dimension giving winning and loosing another meaning.

Of course you can take fantastic pictures of Chess Wonderland, and I took a lot. In the end I changed the windlight settings to get a better insight how the installion is buildt – and it looks totally different if you change the settings. Thank you EgyptRocker for providing this peice of art to us!

Simploring 2017 (29) Bella Italia – Amandia

It seems that the Mediterranean appeals to many of us in a magic way. That’s true at least for me. Wednesday, April 12th, I came across Amandia by following Nix Bubbles’ blog “Places in Secondlife with a tiny pinch of fashin” (link to this blog is in the Active blogs list).Amandia is a little Italian village which offers a really great variety of living, roleply, fun and kink. First of all it is very picturesque and a place for those who like taking pictures. It is made with love and creativity and to me it looks really like a place to spend a vacation. Amandia also presents some art. I did recognize immediatly several of Mistero Hifeng’s art. In addition it has countless places to cuddle, to sit, to dance and to dream. Amandia has several beaches and patio’s, there are (public) vacation homes as well as one private (non-pubic) resident home. There are possibilities for roleplay, night clubs, sky boxes for voyeurs, lesbians and for extreme play. And there is a hotel that has also a suite for bdsm.I visited for about an hour and could just get a little overview. I roamed around in the village first. It is not large but the houses there are not empty and just facades, instead they are furnished very many with details. The village really make you feel like being in Italy. Amazing. I visited some of the skyboxes (kinky), the beaches with the many opportunities to sit, to take a sunbath, to cuddle or to surf. I went to the little half island “Though Isle”, which is more for meditation. I spent time walking along the shore promenade. I walekd up to the lighthouse. I enjoyed many many views .. and of course I couldn’t hold back and also visited the hotel suite for bdsm.
Amandia is a full sim and an adult sim (so you can sunbath naked .. and more). The landmark description lists all the activities: “Vintage city, beach, dance, outdoors, kid, garden, piano’s bar, farm, nature, forest, hangout, live music, sea,  photoset, photostudio, models, hotel, suite, dom, lesbian, bdsm, hospital, Mama Allpa clinic“. Amandia is owned and created by robb (robbaccia). He wrote (in the notecard you’ll get upon landing in Amandia): “I’m very glad to welcome you to Amandia, folklore, arts, nature and hospitality from the  people of ‘LeMarche’, an Italian Region.
The land is open to all ** Human Avatars and Pets **, the moderate area is open to ** Child avatars ** too. You can fly and rez (group required). No Nazis, No fascists. Respect other avatars and have fun
There is not much to add but a big thank you to robb for providing this gem to all SL users.

Simploring 2017 (10) Mistero at Astral Dreams

Just after visiting Anduril, where I saw art of Mistero Hifeng again, Inara had another blog about an exhibition of Mistero’s art at Astral Dreams “Mistero Hifeng at Astral Dreams in Second Life“. 20170215-astral-dreams-mistero-hifeng_010Of course I went to Astral Dreams and had a look. In this concentration Mistero’s art has not the same strong effect than it has when you stumble over it by accident be it in plain nature or in any other environment. I think this kind of art, big surrealistic statues often somehow craving for love or for music, and always a bit broken into pieces, do fit better as a single point of art, as stand alone piece – but that is just my personal opinion and for art everyone has an own way seeing it. No question I like Mistero’s art.20170215-astral-dreams-mistero-hifeng_011

Simploring 2017 (9) Anduril

20171102-anduril_028Saturday, Feb 11th, I went on a simploring tour to Anduril. Inary Pey wrote about it in her blog “The streets and paths of Anduril in Second Life“.
Anduril is a sim with 3 faces. Upon your landing it is first of all a small town as you land on the main street. There are cars, street lights, sidwalks, shops, some trees, just what you expect from a small town. Every thing is nice, clean and neat. maybe there could be more people on the street but that’s Second Life. The town and the the whole sim is somehow dominated by a lighthouse, you can see it from everyhwere. Just where you land is a hotel and above the entrance is at well lightened statue. Inara writes it is a statue from Marcel Marceau. At least it is extraordinary for sure. At the end of the street is a big old villa. If you go in, you’ll find a big room that is used for ballet and on the balcony is a (ballet?) dancer.20171102-anduril_029
But Anduril is not just a little town. if you turn right and walk through a passage you can look at the backside of the houses and it looks not neat and clean anymore, but abandonned, as if the people left the place in a hurry. In one old building there’s an art installation of Mistero Hifeng .. that leads to the second face of Anduril: art. There’s not just the statue of Marcel Marceau, other pieces of art from Silas Merlin and Mistero Hifeng and others are spread over the sim.

Art at Anduril

Art at Anduril

The third face of Anduril is nature, more a park just next to the town. There are places to sit and cuddle, places to enjoy the view and there’re other pieces of art in this park. Overall, there’s a lot to discover and explore at Anduril and my one hour visit went by very quickly. Thank you Marina Breen and Asa Vordun for providing Anduril to the public. For me it is the best way to espose art, not in a museum and packed but in a park more by accident, when you’re in the right mood as you’re relaxed when walking through a park. There you can you discover each piece and they look different outside embedded in the environment.20170211-anduril_031

Diomita in art – Gates of memories

I found some time for simploring again. Yesterday I visited the “Gates of memories“. The sim’s description in the landmark is short: “We don’t remember days, we remember moments“. So what is it about? Basically it is a sparse winter landscape with two small houses. The whole island is snowbound and it is snowing permanently. Embedded in this scenery is art which is outstanding in the quite monotonous scenery.

Jan 25th: Diomita in art at "Gates of memories" (1)

Jan 25th: Diomita in art at “Gates of memories” (1). Left sculpture by Raya Jonson, right sculpture  by Mistero Hifeng.

As the whole island is snowbound and the sky is gray and as it is snowing, you won’t see many colours. Hence, every coloured piece gets particular attention in this surrounding, like the coloured paper laterns that you see first time when landing in the sim. Later I came across a red car with a christmas tree on it’s roof. This car would not get any attention elsewhere but here it is a real eye candy, literally glowing red.

Jan 25th: Diomita in art at "Gates of memories" (2)

Jan 25th: Diomita in art at “Gates of memories” (2)

For me, “Gates of memories” represents another way to exhibit art. You can become part of it as you walk through it, sit beside it or even on it, get close to it and as you become part of it as a counterpart of the art itself. The fact that the art is in a virtual world and thus only exsists temporarily plus the fact that you become part of the art by walking through it or standing next to it , makes a visit unique. What is left are memories and maybe a few pictures which capture the moment.

There’s a detailled description of the sim in Inara Pey’s “Living in a Modemworld” blog titeled “Stepping through the Gates of Memories in Second Life” with her impressions of this region. “Gates of memories” was created by the photographer shelly70 and the following quote from her profile fits perfectly with her sim “Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away“.
