Art in Second Life 2023 (14) “Transcend Struggle” by Yann GYRO @ Nitroglobus Roof Gallery

Dido Haas invited me to see the March exhibition at her Nitroglobus Roof Gallery: “Transcend Struggle” by Yann GYRO. The offical opening will take place tonight, March 6th, at 12 PM SLT (9 PM CET).

“Transcend Struggle” by Yann GYRO (sempiternel) consists of 7 partly very large pictures and several animated 3D objects. Dido Hass wrote in her notecard about “Transcend Struggle” by Yann GYRO: “Yann’s topic isn’t easy; it deals with illness and death, but also gives sparks of hope for the future.

Although I’m used to the mirroring floor at the Nitroglobus Roof Gallery, it still impresses me how much it adds to the exhibited art. Yann’s pictures deal with the fight against cancer, they worship the beauty of his mother, they express his love and strong bonds to her – and they express the fight torn between hope and desperation.

Right at the landing point you find a poem by Yann GYRO. The poem is also kind of a description of the installation:

You faced the fear, when you heard the news
But I was here, and I saw you rise and choose
To find your power, and stand tall with grace
And embrace the challenge, with courage in your face

The journey is tough, but I’ll always be near
To guide you with hope, and wipe away your tear
With love and strength, we’ll conquer and transcend
And do what’s needed, to heal and reach the end

The shadow holds a gift, I know it’s true
I see it in you, as you become more bold and bright too
I’m here to support, as you face what’s ahead
And grateful for the bond, that will never be shed

Resilience blooms, in the face of the fight
You won’t be defeated, I’ll stand by your side
I am your ally, with a heart to conquer
Resilience thrives, as we stand as one victor.

Impressions of “Transcend Struggle” by Yann GYRO @ Nitroglobus Roof Gallery (1)

Close to where you land you see a white 3D statue of a woman levitating in the center of the space – and it bursts into pieces. The statue is placed in front of a huge picture, held in red, a scaring picture dealing with cancer. In the back of this wing is another 3 – part picture of cells and in front of it literally rains pills, red, blue, green and white pills. Overall a very touching scenery!

In the other wing you can see the same statue, now not bursting into peices but surrounded by the same pills. Another 3D object, that permanantly rotates, shows parts of the exhibited pictures, also on a bed of pills.

Accompanying a loved person in their struggle against a deadly illness is an experience that you can’t forget, that you don’t want to forget. As opposed to, it creates a strong bond to the person – beyond death. I personally can sense this bond looking at Yann’s pictures and exhibits. And they are very artful too!

Yann Gyro (sempiternel) is in Second Life since 2018. I first saw his art – very different from what you see in “Transcend Struggle” at Nitroglobus Roof Gallery – at La Maison d’Aneli in May 2021 (read here) and in December 2022 (read here). Yann is a photgrapher and designer. Yann has his own store on the marketplace. He also has a flickr account.

Nitroglobus Roof Gallery is owned and curated by Dido Haas. Thank you, Dido for providing the space for the art and for enabling the exhibition “Transcend Struggle” by Yann Gyro (sempiternel). And thank you Yann for your art.
As it is the March exhibition at the gallery “Transcend Struggle” shall be available until the end of this month.

Art in Second Life 2022 (104) La Maison d’Aneli Dec 2022 / Jan 2023

Aneli Abeyante invited me to see the new exhibition at La Maison d’Aneli. The opening event took place, Wednesday, December 14th. The exhibition features the art from Traci Ultsch, Yann Gyro (sempiternel),  ZackHerrMann, Thanos Runner and onceagain (Manoji Yachvili).

I started my visit with Traci Ultsch. Traci’s skybox at La Maison d’Aneli deal with the theme written in big letters on one wall: “As above so below”. Abstract forms, that remind me of the planet earth mirror in the floor, but the mirror image is not the same. It contains clouds and trees and other forms and invite the spectator to explore more deeply. As far as I gathered the skybox was also the place for the opening event.

La Maison d’Aneli Dec 2022 / Jan 2023 – Traci Ultsch

I didn’t come across Traci Ultsch so far. Traci is in Second Life since 2017 and I couldn’t find out much about her or him- Traci wrote in the accompanying notecard: “Traci is a rubbish artist who can not write a bio… also their music is bad…you can add that traci died in 2010 and is now run by Google Images… “fine i dont care” haha..“. You can see more of Traci on a flickr page.

Yann Gyro (sempiternel) is in Second Life since 2018. He is a photgrapher and designer. Yann has his own store on the marketplace. He also has a flickr account.
At his skybox at La Maison d’Aneli Yann allows us to have a look into his head. It’s a bit of a mess but that is how he creates. He doesn’t think, he creates!

La Maison d’Aneli Dec 2022 / Jan 2023 – Yann Gyro (sempiternel)

ZackHerrMann is a French psychedelik artist from the French Riviera. He’s in Second Life since 2012. He writes about his work:
French artist, kind of an alien from the unidentified dimension! He draws wither by hand or by digital toos or both. He has been a nightlife creature, a cyber punk LGBT glam cosmic one. He likes to create sounds and bizarre music that he uses for many projects. He is the creature of a fictive heroin called Linda Cluster. He works a lot usings the Second Lide Metavers, he loves concets, he is THE concept!

La Maison d’Aneli Dec 2022 / Jan 2023 – ZackHerrMann

ZackHerrMann’s art is quite unique. It is mostly in strong colours. Zack uses light effects and his installation is steadily changing. You can almost hear music, even when it is not turned on. Figures are dancing, everything looks full and rich. At La Maison d’Aneli his skybox is once again an own world to get lost in.
ZackHerrMann has a little museum in Second Life – Zack Herr Mann Universum. You can also see more of his art at his flickr page.

Thanos Runner is in Second Life since 2009. He writes about himself: “I am a multiple artist, I practice in various disciplines, but drawing is above all my favorite discipline, because everything starts from drawing. It’s the idea, it’s the mood, it’s the choice, and all artistic work begins with a drawing. I draw for several reasons first of all I like drawing whatever it is, for me it is approach to the gift of self, and a visual communication, sensitivity, character, and sentimental of the individual provided that he is sincere.”

La Maison d’Aneli Dec 2022 / Jan 2023 – Thanos Runner

His skybox at La Maison d’Aneli is a room in form of a sphere where his pictures are displayed in groups: “There are various drawings of the human body in all their sensibilities, and it is multiple, we are all unique and beautiful, and I try to bring out this through my works. There are very personal compositions and hence various portaits are also part of this exhibition.
Thanos has an own website here.

onceagain (Manoji Yachvili) ist in Second Life since 2007. Manoji is Italian and lives and works in Tuscany, Italy. Manoji’s skybox at La Maison d’Aneli is dedicated to the Apuan Alps.
The Apuan Alps, also known as Alpi Apuane, is a mountain range located in Tuscany, Italy. The mountains are lined with the beautiful white Carrara marble. The light colored stone gives the mountain range a look as though they are covered in snow year round. The Carrara marble remains to be one of the more popular choices among building plans, interior decor, and sculptures.
Due to modern technology, the large-scale extractions of marble from the quarries of the Apuan Alps mountains are inflicting the worst environmental disaster in Europe, and are changing the face of these mountains.
In the accompanying notecard you can find more information. onceagain (Manoji Yachvili) also provided two links – here and here.

La Maison d’Aneli Dec 2022 / Jan 2023 – onceagain (Manoji Yachvili)

La Maison d’Aneli is owned by Aneli Abeyante. Through her gallery she brought together all forms of creativity in RL and SL and the featured artists come from around the globe. Aneli’s intention was to “put her gallery in the service of artists, so that the world can be better, exchanges and meetings probably contribute even though it seems to be particles.

This is the last exhibition of La Maison d’Aneli and will stay open until January 2023. More than 12 years Aneli has curated her La Maison d’Aneli with an exhibition almost every month. Thank you very much for your work dedicated to the arts in Second Life. As always I enjoyed my (last) visit and I saw another great joined exhibtion, Aneli.
Stay healthy and enjoy whatever you do in RL and in SL. It was a pleasure featuring your La Maison d’Aneli in this blog regularly.

Art in Second Life 2021 (40) La Maison d’Aneli May 2021

On April 28th a new exhibition at La Maison d’Aneli opened its doors. This time it features 3 installations / showrooms created by Morlita Quan, Yann GYRO (sempiternel) and a joined installation by Tutsy Navarathn and Eupalinos Ugajin.

The room of Morlita Quan is on the ground level just close to where you land. The room is held in white, Morlita’s pictures show abstract moitfs mixed with real life pictures (at least parts do like like real life pictures). Her art work is intriguing and thoughtfully put together. I’d prefer the presentation of it on a darker background, but that’s in the eye of the beholder.

La Maison d’Aneli May 2021- Morlita Quan

Morlita Quan was born in Galicia, Spain. She’s in SL for over 12 years. She’s an artist in Second Life as well as in real life, where she’s known as MorlitaM. In her pictures she focuses on abstract, graphic design and nature with geometrical shapes. She also works in other art and music projects. For more information, look up her website.

Yann GYRO (sempiternel)’s installation consits of a spaceship and one attached room. The landing is in the spaceship. At both sides of the spaceship are Yann’s pictures, yet you have to move your camera to properly see them. You can see into the attached roon from inside of the spaceship. Inside of the room is a forest, but not mesh trees or RL textures. Rather the trees look like drawings, just like you would draw them for an illustration. Once you enter you see that it is actually scene, a war scene. A war plane shooting with machine gun on a girl that runs for her life. I suspect it is an illustration for a story, that I don’t know.

La Maison d’Aneli May 2021- Yann GYRO (sempiternel)

Yann is in SL for over 3 years and an active member of the UASL, United Artists of Second Life. Yann says: “I always think if an art need a title to be understood its because its not good enough.” The artist loves to try any media and is not limited to one style in SL. A RL artist from France. A photographer and wood and steel sculptor.
Yann has an own store and a flickr page.

Tutsy Navarathn and Eupalinos Ugajin present their installation “Get drunk”. It is an installation to enjoy art, experiment with new technical features and to have fun. It consists of 4 stations around the themes “Food, Wine, Sex and Poetry. If you select “use shared environment”, the environment will change between the 4 stations and it will change randomly inbetween (it did that for me at least).

La Maison d’Aneli May 2021- Tutsy Navarathn and Eupalinos Ugajin: Get drunk! (1)

There are sculptures, abstract and non-abstract pictures, there are bottles circling around the 4 stations and there’s poetry from Charles Baudelaire – Get drunk!

La Maison d’Aneli May 2021- Tutsy Navarathn and Eupalinos Ugajin: Get drunk! (2)

You literally act like drunk, when you get in contact with the bottles, you begin to dance and the world is turning around you- funny. I also had fun when I noticed an open book attached above my head. Yet there is more and this part was quite new for me: augmented reality – or in this case augmented virtuality. How does it work? You need a smartphone and an app. After installing the app on your smartphone you hold the cam of the phone on the QR code next to some of the pictures. The smartphone loads a video that is played in the foreground with the picture that you see through your smartphone cam in the background. This way the picture become alive – and again: almost as if you were drunk you see your own reality (virtuality). A nice and artful demonstration of what is there to come soon more and more.

La Maison d’Aneli May 2021- Tutsy Navarathn and Eupalinos Ugajin: Get drunk! (3) (Remark: the two pictures on the right are taken from my smartphone)

Eupalinos Ugajin is in Second Life for almost 13 years. Inara Pey has visited Eupalinos Ugajin’s “Avaloir” and writes in her blogpost Eupalinos Ugajin’s Avaloir in Second Life: “Those familiar with Eupa’s work will know that it covers a broad canvas, often containing humour, whimsy, a little self-deprecation, which can be mixed with social commentary, imaginative projection worth of the likes of Gilliam, and an artistic flair that can quite captivate the eye and mind.”
I myself have visited his installation Avaloir (read here). And there’s a flickr page.

La Maison d’Aneli May 2021- Tutsy Navarathn and Eupalinos Ugajin: Get drunk! (4)

Tutsy Navarathna is an artist I didn’t really come across so far. I saw 2 of his pictures at the exhibtion “Soulportraits at Itakos Art Gallery this year (read here). Tutsy is in Second Life also for almost 13 years. He likes to produce machinimas and has an own youtube channel. And there’s also a flickr page.

Thank you both for this great installation. I enjoyed my visit and got virtually drunk!

Thank you for another great joined exhibtion, Aneli. As always I enjoyed my visit and writing about it. It always inspires me.
