Art in Second Life 2021 (3) Fractal Insanity – The Art of Milly Sharple

One year ago I came across the art of Milly Sharple the first time when I saw her work at La Maison d’Aneli (read here). I visited her own art gallery soon after and reported about it (read here).
I learned that Milly is also a talented sim builder and creator and makes her own Christmas installation every year. It is called “Let it snow! A Winter Wonderland” and I visited it in 2019 (read here) and in 2020 (read here). When I talked with Milly about her recent Christmas installation, she told me that she moved her own art gallery and added new artwork. I visited Milly’s gallery “Fractal Insanity” on Sunday, December 27th, 2020.

Fractal Insanity – The Art of Milly Sharple (1)

Fractal Insanity is a large building in a skybox. It extends over three floor and showcases the broad variety of Milly’s art. The floors and rooms are sorted by theme that range from classic fractal art over mixtures of pictures of avatars with fractals to pictures taken in real life and processed into oil paintings.

Fractal Insanity – The Art of Milly Sharple (2)

The themes vary from portraits to animals, particular cats. One theme is common: “In diversity there is beauty and there is strength”

Fractal Insanity – The Art of Milly Sharple (3)

There are rooms with animated art. I love this kind of art as the captured picture is a peice of art in itself and hardly reproducible. Milly also played with styles and there’s a corner with pictures that have an Asian touch.

Fractal Insanity – The Art of Milly Sharple (4)

Once again Milly’s art impressed me, this time in particular the broad variety of her artistic work. Scattered on all floors you will also see her 3D art, her sculptures. One of these, called “Humantree” is also at our home.

Milly Sharple is an artist and photographer from the UK in real life and has always enjoyed art and artistic expression. She’s in Second Life since 2008 and was perhaps one of the pioneers in introducing fractal art to Second Life.

Fractal Insanity – The Art of Milly Sharple (5)

I enjoyed my visit to “Fractal Insanity – The Art of Milly Sharple“, it was just the perfect activity for a Sunday morning. Have a look around yourself. Milly also provides some gifts, but they are limited in mumber. I grabbed one and will look to find a nice place for it at our home. Molly told me later, that the gifts change every month and if you join her group you even get a notice when a new gift is up. The gallery is a steady work in progress, hence new pictures are added every once in a while.
Thank you for your art, Milly!

Diary 2020 (177) December 21st/22nd In the run up to Christmas (VIII)

Monday, December 21st, I was shortly inworld in the later morning, yet nothing to report. I returned after lunch and went visiting a gallery. While I was there, Kitty cam inworld – 5 AM in the morning her time. We chatted a bit while I continued my gallery visit.
After I had finished, I checked Kitty whereabout and found her all alone in a sim. She told me that she was causing mischief the day before and got kidnapped in the midst of it. I went to her location and had difficulties to find and see her. I could locate her in a block of concrete hoovering a bit over the ground of the sim. The block was huge! I found out that it had 6 floors but only the 1st floor was filled – with cells.
It took some time to cheat into the block and then I also could see our kitty – locked up, chained to the wall and in a locked cell. I’d say she was pretty safe in there. Her kidnappers seemed to be very serious people (according to their profiles), not the kind of people you want to be caught by. I managed to reach into the cell and to unlock Kitty’s restraints with my master key. But how should I get her out of the cell?. I had to use a crowbar but finally succeeded to rescue Kitty (YAY) (Remark: I locked her cuffs and leashed her to me and luckily that made it possible to lure her out).

December 21st: Diomita rescues Kitty

Later in the afternoon I met with Mistress Jenny. Lucy (MissLucyWales) was also present and we took her to Psi’s where Mistress and I spent some time first just to catch up. Later Faye (Boy Serenity) joind us too. We chatted amoung us and a bit in mainchat and we watched what was going on. Domina A. was there with quite some of her slaves, all tied in a hogtie. What a picture! Our 1 1/2 hour flew by way too quickly again.

December 21st: Domina A. with a couple of her slaves / Mistress Jenny and Diomita at Psi’S realm with Lucy and Faye

We had a real family and friends night later. First Mistress Jenny and I played a skipee, Mistress with Angelique against Flo and me. It was a quite onesided game that Mistress and Angelique won easily. While we had been playing slave Melissa came online and Ann visited us and showed me a jukeox for our island after we had finished playing. The box can be helpful where there is no dj as you can request songs from a radio station with an interface. We will have to try that out.
Mistress Jenny and I went to Carnal Intentions with Flo and slave Melissa. We had quite some IMs and group chats open and I hardly saw the club room due to all opened windows. We chatted amoung each other, we had a chat group chat with Argi, we talked with Ann, Faye came by later, Alessi (Alessi20) joined us, Ebony was in IM … and we participated a bit in main chat. We left the club at around midnight, when slave Melissa had to leave. Mistress and I went to club Domme a Domme – and met Ebony and Baroness Capelo (as Rudolf the red nose rendeer) there. A family and friends night!

December 21st: Mistress Jenny and Diomita at Carnal Intentions with slave Melissa, Alessi, Ann and Faye

Tuesday, December 22nd, we had a relaxed time in the afternoon. Mistress and I went to Puerto Esclava first, then to club Domme a Domme where I enjoyed some time at Mistress feet. We caught up with our news and we relaxed. As Flo and Angelique were present and at home, we returned home as well and played a skipee as teams. Mistress had to leave by the time we had finished.

December 22nd: Mistress Jenny and Diomita at Puerto Esclava, at club Domme a Domme and at home

First thing at night was worshiping Mistress Jenny and getting my fix. Mistress knows how to keep me addicted to her *winks*. Flo was present and I took Mistress Jenny and her to “Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland”, the Winter installation of Milly Sharple (read my simploring report here). We had fun there again.

December 22nd: Mistress Jenny, Diomita and Flo at “Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland”, the Winter installation of Milly Sharple

Back to the more kinky entertainment. slave Melissa had come inworld and we went to Carnal Intentions with Flo and here. It was quite full and we got some entertainment, chatting amoung us and following the main chat (yes there was a bit of it, really). At flotime we returned home and as we didn’t had a Christmas tree at our porch at home yet – slave Melissa got that assignment.

December 22nd: Mistress Jenny and Diomita at Carnal Intentions with Flo and slave Melissa / at home installung our Melissa Christmas tree / at Puerto Esclava

We ended our night in SL with a visit at Puerto Esclava – and that’s it once again.

Simploring 2020 (84) Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland

For my simploring tour on Saturday, November 28th, actually on the first Advent weekend, I was up for some Winter and seasonal fun. I remember that I visited “Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland” last year (read here) and that the owner, Milly Sharple, had told me that she designs her Winter Wonderland every year. And yes, it was open and a lovely experience once again.

“Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland” – Overview and orientation map

Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland is a moderate homestead owned and designed by Milly Sharple, an artist and photographer in real life. Mills is from the UK in real life and has always enjoyed art and artistic expression. I visited her galleries Fractal Insanity and Fractal Factory (read here). Milly is in Second Life since 2008 and was perhaps one of the pioneers in introducing fractal art to Second Life. And as mentioned above, she also likes building and creates this yearly Winter Wonderworld.

Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland is tagged with “Christmas, winter, snow, holidays, frost, dancing, ice-skating, exploring, forests, caves, ruins, photography and more!” in the landmark description and it really is the fun that these tags promise it to be. But most of all it is just a beautiful place with countless romantic hangouts, places to dance, to have fun and just to enjoy yourself or some time with a friend or loved one.

Impressions of “Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland” (1) – around the landing point

The landing is in front of a Christmas hut. If you look around a carousel, an ice rink, snow, snow, snow, a round hut with a piano and places to sit, a smaller residential house and a large residential house up on a hill.

I visited the larger residential house first and was impressed about it’s in and outside, very neat and stylish. Inside it is spacious andfurnished with love for the detail. Everything is prepared for the Christmas dinner, just lovely.

Impressions of “Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland” (2) – the large residential house in- and outside

I visited the ice rink and the bar behind it, then I saw the snowglobe and had a look. The snowglobe is a perfect place to make pictures and I made a few of myself. I noted that I should take Mistress here for a picture.

Impressions of “Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland” (3) – the bar and the snowglobe

I continued my simploring tour through Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland by walking up to the high plateau with the Cathedral ruins. Once again you can stop by in a Cafe on your way. The Cahtedral is another great place for taking pictures and for spending a romantic hour. Actually during my visit a couple was enjoying this place, hence I didn’t disturb them (I hope).

Impressions of “Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland” (4) – the cafe and the cathedral ruins

On the other corner of the sim is a hill with the opportunity to rezz a sledge and to drive downhill. Of course I tried that out!

Impressions of “Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland” (5) – sledge riding and the gazebo

I had a look at the gazebo, a lovely place to dance. Everywhere on the sim you find animals, be it deers, squirrels, an ice bear or doves. Close to the sledges is a small forest with an old castle in the center. The castle is not furnished. Outside are three tall rocks that are connected by suspension walking bridges. You can get up on the first rock by walking up a steep trail. At the end of the second supsension bridge you get rewarded with a nice view over the Winter wonderland and can relay in an small hut.

Impressions of “Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland” (6) – the castle, bridges and the outlook hut

My last stop for this first visit was the Ice Wonderland, that is also quite close to the landing point. It is a hll with several bizarre caves, ice rocks and fanatsy flowers in many colours, all shining and glowing in different colours, opportunities to sit and watch included. I admit that I lost my way out of the caves and had to walk back and forth to find my way out again.

Impressions of “Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland” (7) – Diomita and the ice bear / in the Ice Wonderland

Again Milly succeeded to create a perfect Winter Wonderland. I enjoyed my visit a lot and will come back during the season. Thank you very much for your work and for sharing Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland with the Sl community, Milly!

Diary 2019 (202) December 30th – A quiet relexed day

I had quite some time inworld on Monday, December 30th. I first me shortly with slave Gwendi at home and then went on another long simploring tour. After almost 12 years Second Life hasn’t lost any of it’s attraction to me. As opposed to with the improvement of graphics I can immerse myself into the dream worlds that others have created and it is always like a short vacation.

When I returned from my tour, I took slave Gwendi with me to the bathroom and had a bath with her. We had some time to talk and to enjoy eachother and slave Gwendi did a good job spoiling her owner. While we were taking the bath, slave Flo came inworld and cleaned the house, so that we have is clean for New Years Day and Ann came by as well, dressed with a kinky outfit and a dildo gag. slave Flo commented “Did you forget to cut the salami into slices?” *winks*

December 30th: Diomita and slave gwendi taking a bath (upper left and middle) / slave Gwendi, Diomita and Ann with her “salami” at home (upper right) / Diomita, Angelique, Ann, slave Flo and slave gwendi at Mesmerize Dungeon (lower pictures)

As Angelique was inworld as well we, Angelique, Ann, slave Flo, slave Gwendi and myself made a quick visit to Mesmerize Dungeon, then it was time for me to tend to my RL again for a bit.

At night I rezzed all pictures and art objects that I got from Milly Sharple. I had visited her sim “Let it Snow!” (read also here) several times and I missed the Christmas hunt there, where you could get some of her art. Well I don’t missed it really, I tried the hunt but expected that I had to click on the Christmas socks instead of right click and buy. Milly was so kind to sent all the objects to me.
It was fun rezzing them all in our living room and to have a look at them. There’re some objects and pictures that I really like! Luci, Rob (Robuiron), slave Flo and Angelique came by and were a bit puzzled seeing the living room used as a gallery. Too bad, that I forgto to take a picture. Anyway, after Christmas, when I get some prims nack available, at least one piece of Milly Sharple will be added to my little art collection.

December 30th: Mistress Jenny, Diomita and Angelique at club DeLust with slave gwendi, slave Flo and Luci

Rob left unexpectedly and I took Luci, slave Flo and Angelique with me to club De Lust. It was very full and laggy there. We chatted among us and had a look at all the other guests. slave Gwendi joined us there and later also Mistress Jenny. We stayed about an hour, then we returned home and played a greedy and then it was already time to go to bed. After all it was a nice, relaxed and varied day in Second Life for me.

Art in Second Life 2020 (1) – The Art of Milly Sharple

In 2020 I will split up my “Simploring” posts into “Simploring” for my exploring tours to sims in Second Life and “Art in Second Life” for my visits to art galleries or art installations. So this is the first entry of the “Art in Second Life” series.

In December 2019 I came across Milly Sharple when I visited the current exhibition at La Maison d’Aneli (read Simploring 2019 (123) La Maison d’Aneli Holiday season 2019/2020). This exhibition featured Milly Sharple among other artists and it is still open (at least until January 11th).

La Maison d’Aneli Holiday season 2019/2020 – Milly Sharple

Milly Sharple is an artist and photographer from the UK in real life and has always enjoyed art and artistic expression. She’s in Second Life since 2008 and was perhaps one of the pioneers in introducing fractal art to Second Life.
Milly Sharple has also a passion for region design and building in Second Life and creates a yearly Winter sim called “Let it Snow!”, which I visited the first time last year (see Simploring 2019 (129) Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland).

Milly Sharple has 2 large galleries: Fractal Insanity and Fractal Factory

Fractal Insanity – The Art of Milly Sharple Art (1)

I visited Fractal Insanity on Christmas Day 2019. Fractal Insanity is Milly’s gallery for experimental and mixed media art. It extends over 2 adjacent and connected buildings with 2 floors. I recognised just a few pictures that were exhibited at La Maison d’Aneli. This gallery shows the broad variety of Milly’s art. There’re not only fractals, there’re continously changing fractals that remembered me of kaleidoscopes. There are very artful 3D statues in various forms, not only humans but also animals. There’re vases in different colours and shape. There’re collages and there’re portraits and animal faces embedded in fractals, some are mirrored and/or blurred.

Fractal Insanity – The Art of Milly Sharple Art (2)

Milly told me that she’s was going to update a part of the Fractal Insanity gallery, hence you might see a little bit different extract of Milly’s art if you visit it now.

Fractal Insanity – The Art of Milly Sharple Art (3)

I visited Fractal Factory on December 26th, 2019. This gallery shows Milly’s pure fractals, none of them have had editing. That is almost incredible for me as a layman.
“Fractal art is a form of algorithmic art created by calculating fractal objects and representing the calculation results as still images, animations, and media. Fractal art developed from the mid-1980s onwards. It is a genre of computer art and digital art which are part of new media art. The mathematical beauty of fractals lies at the intersection of generative art and computer art. They combine to produce a type of abstract art.” (source: wikipedia)

Fractal Factory – The Art of Milly Sharple Art (1)

In her profile Milly writes that she creates these Fractals in Apophysis, UltraFractal, Jux, Boxplorer, Frax and Sterlingware. As far as I understood it these are fractal generation and rendering software applications.

Fractal Factory – The Art of Milly Sharple Art (2)

Milly’s art impressed me. I like the colours and the variety of her art. Both galleries display her art in a very successful way. You can purchase all pictures and objects. Thank you very much for bringing your art to Second Life, Milly. I enjoyed visiting the galleries and getting a little bit more insight into your work.

Diary 2019 (197) December 20th – 22nd Family Days

The holiday season was coming to it’s first peak with Christmas soon. It was the time of the year where we do not only spend more time within the family in Second Life but also travel to see our families in Real Life. I was visiting mine from Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd and Mistress Jenny was traveling to see her family Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd. Nonetheless I was able to get inworld late Friday night and to attend our Friday night party. The theme was not surprisingly Christmas *winks*

Due to Mistress Jenny’s and my absence there’s nothing to report for the diary for Saturday. We both returned Sunday night – and had a family night in Second Life. Angelique, slave Flo and slave Gwendi were present. We went to “Let it snow!” (see also Simploring 2019 (129) Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland) and enjoyed the atmosphere.

December 22nd: Mistress Jenny and Diomita with Angelique, slave Flo and slave Gwendi enjoying a family holiday season night

We went to the Lesbian teahouse and later to Mesmerize Dungeon. We chatted, caught up and had fun – in short: we had a relaxed family night and Mistress and I crowned it with some time of togetherness before we went to bed.

Diary 2019 (194) December 14th/15th Relaxed Weekend

I went on a longer simploring tour Saturday, December 14th, and visited “Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland” (read also yesterday’s post). I had fun exploring it, really a Winter Wonderland! I was about to finish my visit when Kitty came online. What a surprise. I summoned her to me and we danced in this romantic environment, we caught up just a bit. Mistress Jenny, who meets Kitty more often than I do, keeps filling me in about Kitty’s news.

December 14th: Diomita and Kitty dancing at “Let it Snow!”

At night I first spent some time at club Domme a Domme where Ann found and joined me. I took control and tied her up in her doll suit. I noticed slave Flo coming online and called her. She had started a game of skipee (alone, so that she wins *winks*). I went home with Ann and soon after slave Gwendi and Mistress came inworld. slave Gwendi had been sick a few days and we were happy having her back. After Flo had won her game (surprise, surprise), we went to Mesmerize Dungeon for about an hour. Mistress and I caught up with our mutual news, we talked about the upcoming holidays, we teased the slaves and had fun. And slave Flo and slave Gwendi had fun teasing Ann as their future sister slave.

December 14th: Diomita and Ann at club Domme a Domme / Mistress Jenny and Diomita at Mesmerize Dungeon with slave Flo, slave Gwendi and Ann

Back home we played a round of greedy, then it was time for Mistress Jenny and slave Flo to leave. I tucked Mistress Jenny in and went to bed early myself.

I had quite some time inworld on Sunday, December 15th. I went visiting Lairig Leacach  (see Simploring 2019 (126) Lairig Leacach) first. It is Serene Footman’s particular holiday sim and outstanding as all of his work. Once again, Kitty came inworld when I was about to leave, but this time I really had to leave.

Lairig Leacach

To my surprise Kitty was online when I returned in the afternoon. Now she was about to leave but I could convince her to come home and to meet me and slave Gwendi. I took a fwe pictures of us 🙂

December 15th: Diomita with slave Gwendi and Kitty

After Kitty had left I took slave Gwendi with me to Heavy Bondage Club. slave Gwendi was more or less absent and I had some distractions of RL as well. Our former slave Dana called me and I summoned her to us. She’s was quite restricted and still searches her place in SL while causing trouble and having fun. We caught up a little but, then I had to leave for dinner.

December 15th: Diomita with slave Gwendi and Dana at Heavy Bondage Club

At night Mistress Jenny, slave Gwendi, slave Flo and I had 2 rounds of greedy first, then we went to club DeLust where we spent the night. slave Gwendi danced for us, slave Flo decorated us well and slave slut cecy showed up later and danced for us as well. We had a very relaxed night together with the slaves and it was crowned with tongetherness at our skybox after the slaves had left.

Simploring 2019 (129) Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland

When I visited the current exhibition at La Maison d’Aneli (see Simploring 2019 (123) La Maison d’Aneli Holiday season 2019/2020) I came across Milly Sharple who exhibits her pictures there. Milly Sharple is an artist and photographer from the UK in real life and has always enjoyed art and artistic expression. She’s in Second Life since 2008 and was perhaps one of the pioneers in introducing fractal art to Second Life. Milly established her own gallery “Fractal Insanity – The Art of Milly Sharple“. Milly Sharple has also a passion for region design and building in Second Life and creates a yearly Winter sim called “Let it Snow!” (Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland 2019).

I hadn’t heard about it or at least I never visited “Let it Snow!” before. It was about time that I visited it. Saturday, December 14th, I went to this year’s installation “Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland“. And I didn’t regret it at all! As opposed to I spent 2 hours in this lovely and picturesque sim. It’s just awesome.

Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland – overiew

“Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!” is written in the fitting landmark profile and the tags are “Christmas, holidays, ice skating, cable cars, sledding, snowboarding, dining, dancing, ballroom, cafes, bar, photography, hangout, cosy cottages, ruins, woods, etc.” “Let it snow!” is a moderate homestead, owned and created by Milly Sharple.

The landing point is in a seperate hut. You get a list with landmarks so that you won’t miss a point of interest. I started my simploring tour at the Townsquare right next to the landing point.

Impressions of Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland (1) – Landing point and Townsquare

The Townsquare is very picturesque. All houses are decoracted outside and in the center is a gazebo where you can sit and enjoy or dance. You find dancing animations in little red hearts at many spots in “Let it Snow!

Impressions of Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland (2) – Townsquare and Winter Carousel (lower right)

There is a little Winter outdoor bar where I took a first rest. Some of the stores are furnished and decorated also inside. Did I mention already that is it snowing at “Let it snow!“? Close to the Townsquare is the Winter Carousel, another nice motif for taking pictures.

Impressions of Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland (3) – Ballroom, Rune Fortune Stone, Winter Angel Gazebo, Reader’s Retreat

I tried the Rune Fortune Stone, that provides different stones as giveaways, stones with a meaning: “This Rune is traditionally associated with protection and shelter. It’s form resembles an umbrella , and it teaches us that we must protect ourselves from negative emotions if we’re to succeed as individuals.
Let it Snow!” is a romantic Winter Wonderland, just the right place to go dancing with your loved one for example in the Ballroom or outside in the Winter Angel Gazebo. Or simply enjoy yourself and retreat to Reader’s Retreat.

Impressions of Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland (4) – Church Ruins, Winter Walk, Ice Rink, Winter bar

I visited the Church Ruins and walked through the forest (Winter Walk). For those seeking more activity there’s an Ice Rink and next to it is a Winter bar to simply watch.

Impressions of Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland (5) – Cable Cars and Toboggan slide, Winter Lodge (lower right)

In one corner of “Let it Snow!” is a small hill. You can either take a cable car or walk up on foot. Don’t miss trying the Toboggan slide, that’s fun! I also had a look into the biggest house almost in the center of “Let it Snow!“, that I named Winter Lodge. It is nicely furnished and another cosy place to sit and talk. You will find many cosy places spread all over the sim.

Besides that it is picturesque, romantic, built with love for the detail “Let it Snow!” is also quite outstanding for it’s simsurround that fits so perfectly that you hardly notice the boarders of the sim. Milly has added a moon and a curtains of snow around the sim and all the light sources are placed thoughtfully. More opportunites for taking pictures.

Impressions of Let it Snow! A Winter Wonderland (6) – Snowy Retreat and more

I’m glad that I came across “Let it Snow!” and I assume, it will become a regular place for me to visit during the holiday season. Thank you very much Milly for creating this Winter Wonderland and for providing it to the public! I had a great time.
