Art in Second Life 2020 (62) Isolation’s Passengers

Scrolling through scoop.it SL destinations for my simploring tour on Sunday, September 13th, I came across Isolation’s Passengers. The entry led me to another post of Maddy Gynoid – Simtipp: Isolation’s Passengers (in German), which was very interesting and tempted me to visit right away.

Impressions of Isolation’s Passengers (1)

Isolation’s Passengers is a full moderate sim, group owned by “Shutter Thugs”, a group founded by Archetype11 Nova, who owns the sim. Archetype11 Nova was formerly known as Schmexysbuddy Resident and created the Hotel California sims, which I visited in 2019 (read here and here).

Impressions of Isolation’s Passengers (2)

Isolation Passenger’s is an art installation and deals with the corona virus. The landmark description provides the overall thought “When isolation becomes a religion, the living trade places with the damned.

Impressions of Isolation’s Passengers (3)

The landing is just in front of a large church. Scattered around the whole sim you find interpretations and elements that refer to the virus, to the quarantine time, to social distancing, to the fear of dead, to dead itself, to religion and to loneliness and the halt of all life as we know it.

Impressions of Isolation’s Passengers (4)

The single sculptures and scenes are impressive and inspire to think, to make a connection between them. And there’s really a lot to discover. I took many pictures here and they speak for themselves. Hence I retrain from further words and interpreations. Art and it’s effect on us is different for each of us anyway.

Impressions of Isolation’s Passengers (5)

I can only say, impressive art work! Isolation’s Passengers is an art installation you shouldn’t miss. Thank you, Archetype11!

Simploring 2019 (116) Hotel California – Off the Grid

In April 2019 I visited Hotel California, an adult sim owned by Lex Machine (schmexysbuddy) (see Simploring 2019 (46) Hotel California). When I looked for a place to visit at scoop.it SL Destinations for my simploring tour Sunday, November 17th, I came across Hotel California again, this time with the subtitle “Off the Grid” and the pictures indicated that it is about art. I read Maddy Gynoid’s blogpost “Simtipp: Hotel California ‘Off the Grid’” before going there myself. Maddy wrote that he visits Hotel California regularly and that the sim is changed every 4 weeks. He also wrote that it is not only owned by Lex Machine (schmexysbuddy) but also by Racey Boom (Raceyy). The name rang a bell. I visited Skull Creek, just last month (see Simploring 2019 (106) Autumn @ Skull Creek) and Skull Creek is owned by Racey Boom (Raceyy).

The current installation is described in the landmark description with “When the power goes out, you’re left with nothing but what’s inside your head” and is tagged with “Space, cyber, apocalyptic, photography, photo, art sim, art, photography sim

Hotel California – Off the Grid: bird eye views

Hotel California – Off the Grid has absolutely nothing to do with the sim I visited back in April, the only combining element is that by then also some art was displayed. And now the whole sim is packed with art. Hotel California is an artifical island in the endless sea. It is quite flat, the ground is made of steel panels and 8 highrise buildings grow into the sky. You see power poles and some single trees growing through the steel panels (I counted 6 trees) – and art objects that are spread all over the place.

Each single object including the skyscrapers is worth a detailed look. Now the landmark description makes sense: “When the power goes out, you’re left with nothing but what’s inside your head“.

Impressions of Hotel California – Off the Grid: The horses from Wasabi Yuki (wassaabii) did remind me of Mistero Hifeng. The woman laying on stairs is also created by Wasabi Yuki (wassaabii). The old coach nearby is from danielitosway

Impressions of Hotel California – Off the Grid: Another laying woman by Wasabi Yuki (wassaabii), the “elefants” with the long stilt legs are from Paco Pooley, the tree stumps with the hearts are created by Cica Ghost.

Impressions of Hotel California – Off the Grid: The prison court with the watch tower is created by DRD (deathrowdesigns), the tied hulk of a man is created by Holy (Qutsal Alex), the couple is from Wasabi Yuki (wassaabii)

Impressions of Hotel California – Off the Grid: The phone is from danielitosway, the gear wheels from Noke Yuitza and the hourglass is created by Zelest (Zelest Fall) , the skyscrapers are designed by Nite Row (nitergloom) and look at the hands at 2 of the skyscrapers, these are from Groll (Groll Greggan)

Hotel California – Off the Grid is a thoughtfully installation of art objects together with objects usually used for other purposes. These objects were all created for the Second Life grid (from the grid). They are, I assume, a personal art collection of Lex Machine (schmexysbuddy) and Racey Boom (Raceyy). The power poles refer to the Landmark description …. when the power goes out…

Thank you Lex and Racey for making your this collection available for us all.

Simploring 2019 (46) Hotel California

For my simploring tour on Tuesday, April 2nd, I picked Hotel California from scoop.it SL Destinations. What attracted me was the name of course. We once had a little private prison, that we called Hotel California because of the song from the Eagles with the same name “You can checkout any time you like, but you can never leave!”

Anyway, this Hotel California has nothing to do with it at all! In the landmark profile it is described as “A war torn land fighting it’s way back to beauty. Life always finds a way.” and it is tagged with “Photography, Scenic, Landscape, Photo, Art, Photographer, Country, Apocalypse, War, Apocalyptic, Garden, Vintage, Travel, Explore

Hotel California – overview

Hotel California is an adult sim owned by Lex Machine (schmexysbuddy) and it is a piece of land clearly torn by war. But the war seems to be over for a long time already and nature takes the land back. This offers quite some opportunities for particular pictures and extraordinairy views.

Hotel California – Landing point and hotel

The landing is on a destroyed bridge, one end is broken, the other leads to a hotel. Strangely the illuminated advertising is still working but the hotel itself is empty, abandoned for a long time already, bushes and weed grow from every crack in the walls. In the open patio, there’s still a table and a few chairs. Many birds fly around the hotel, they seem to have their nests here. Very odd is the small motor bike parked in front of the hotel. The whole area seems to be abandoned, who is living here?

Hotel California – Ruins in the water with “soldiers”

After exploring the hotel I went down to the shore to have a look at the 2 big ruins that peek out of the sea. I came across an old rusty tank wreck and then saw a group of statues in the water, like soldiers that run to the shore to occupy it, or do they flea from the ruins? The statues are not soldiers, they reminded me a bit of those from Mistero Hifeng. The tank wreck, the “soldiers” and the two ruins build an artful installation. I climbed on the ruins, there’s really not much left but concrete and steel. At one corner a huge octopussy peeks out with it’s long tentacles.

Hotel California – Gazebo, plane wreck and other impressions

There’re some more ruins on Hotel California, just 2 buildings are not destroyed, one is a gazebo at the shore and the other one is a large wooden residential home. I went inside of the residential home, all rooms are empty. The only room that isn’t empty is a greenhouse, which is full of plants. On the meadows next to this house animals are grazing peacefully. Strange enough that after some exploring the atmosphere doesn’t seem so violent anymore, despite of all the ruins and leftovers from a war.

Hotel California – Abandoned house

Next to the house I noticed an entrance to something in the underground. It turned out being a bunker and it is the only room that is furnished and there’s someone living in it obviously.

Hotel California – Bunker and other impressions

Hotel California is an one of a kind sim, the ruins in the water with the “soldiers” is a piece of art, the rest of the sim is strangely peaceful … “life always finds a way“.
Thank you Lex for sharing the sim with the public.

Kitty Maurer’s 9th collaring anniversary

Just recently we celebrated Kitty Maurer’s (aka. Santana Thibedeau) 10th rezzday (read here).  And today marks Kitty’s 9th (!) collaring day.

I was part of Yasmin’s Brat Pack and Yasmin’s collared sub and had just married my slave Jenny. On November 22nd, 2008 Jenny and I found a “present” at home. My sister Yar (Yar Telling), another brat of Yasmin (Yasmin Heartsdale), had caught Santana, had fun with him and left him in a cage in our house in Stonehaven when she was done with him. Santana was convinced that he could talk himself out of the cage and announced that he will enslave us. Actually, Santana has the particular talent to talk himself out of every miserable situation. But this one time he was wrong. We kept the boy and the more he threatened us to get out and to enslave us, the more we were motivated to prove the opposite. Santana moved with us to Rivers Rock where he was one of the first guests in our Hotel California and he spent months in his hotel room.
After that nice and comfy stay he was well conditioned and submitted to us. We both became fond of our captive and decided to make him a slave to the whole family as our time zones did not match fully. One thing shone through all this time and that was no matter when or where slaveboy always remained loyal to us and made us proud to own him (and later her) wherever (s)he went.

November 22nd, 2008 …..

November 22nd – Kitty Maurer’s 9th collaring anniversary

A lot has happened since that day. Second Life developed and changed, our family in Second Life changed, some good friends left us or decided to persue other ways in SL, Santana became Kitty Maurer, my slave wife Jenny became my Mistress – Kitty stayed with us all the time.
Thank you Kitty for your unconditional submission and dedication to your owners.
Happy collaring anniversary!

Diary 2017 (114) July 14th/15th – Scripted Avatars

Friday, July 14th, I could finally finish getting all of our subs & slaves into their Summer outfit – yellow. We had our regular party and it was quite well visited. From our family slave Flo and puppy slave pet Christa (aka. slavin C) were present. slavin C was the last slave not in yellow. As she wears the KaS puppy suit, it was easy to fit her into yellow.
In addition she got something that you can’t see, a SubListen HUD. What is that about? The aim of this HUD is for Pet play, where the sub is made to act and feel like an animal. The SubListen HUD filters out most of what the sub hears on the chat, and replaces it with static. Like real animals, they can only understand a few words a human says, and only after some extensive training. The HUD comes with a predefined list of words that the sub understands (for example, “come”, “puppy”, “follow”…), but if they are smart, they can learn new words by guessing them from what they hear or their owner can teach them words. I’m curious how slave pet will manage her new puppy life.

Maurer’s Rubbertoy (fomerly known as Bianca Lamplugh), who I caught the night before, was also allowed to attend the party as a living rubber decoration.

Saturday, July 15th, I met Kitty in the afternoon. She’s exploring Lilith’s web and I joined her there. Kitty is quite excited and had already fun over there. Lilith’s web is owned be Goddess (lilluth): “Get caught in the web. Rlv, bdsm, hucow, dolls, bimbos – be entangled in adventure, excitement, love, fantasy, role play, transformation, sex, alien races, slaves, auctions, breeding. Travel to the past, present, and future, and beyond. All in my web.”
I met Kitty in front of Hotel California, you the famous hotel where you can check in but can never check out again. When we caught Kitty back in 2008, she spent many months in our Hotel California, actually a prison cell. What a coincidence! The Hotel California at Lilith’s web is a medical health institution, a madhouse. While I stayed in the lobby, Kitty went in to show me the intake process. Real fun, at least for me as an observer. The hotel is run by scripted avatars, dolls dressed as nurses and doctors which act, move and talk steered by scripts. That’s quite well done and provides a better experience than waiting for a real avatar for roleplay. Kitty is now officially crazy – and she loves it!

July 15th: Impressions of Hotel California at Lilith’s web

Kitty will hopefully write a sim report about Lilith’s web, maybe a little series about it for this blog. Hence I don’t want to reveal too much here and right now already.
Saturday night I first took slave Flo with me for a tour with the blimp over the sim Bondage Storage Project. We crashed a few times but we both survived *winks*. Later at night, Jenny came online. We intended to take the rubbertoy and slave Flo to a club, but slave Flo had to leave and the rubbertoy decided to be reluctant and misbehaving. I stored rubbertoy away to give her time to reconsider and Jenny and I enjoyed a relaxing hour of togetherness … and that’s it for this diary entry.
