Art in Second Life 2020 (20) Gem’s Skyscrapers

I got an invitation to visit Gem Preiz’ newest installation “Gem’s Skyscrapers” which opened Sunday, April 19th. As so often I wasn’t able to attend the opening celebration but I went there the very next day.

The landing at Gems Skycrapers is in a skybox where you can grab a notecard about the installion. I use a lot of this notecard it in my post. Furtheron you get instructions how to set your viewer, which windlight is recommened (I used the recommened windlight “TOR Night Under a Yellow Moon”) and how to hide you avatar for a visit. I shied back from that first as you have to get rid of all of your attachments but then prepared myself as instructed. There’s a reason for that and I will explain that lateron. I teleported to the installation and although I had seen a picture of Gem’s Skyscrapers in the invitation before I was really overwhelmed by the first views. I selected an UFO and started my visit flying through the alleys and above the skyscrapers. Great!

With the city Gem had two objectives:
– the first one is purely architectural and linked to my fascination for the skyscrapers, modern cathedrals which are, like those of the past, the synthesis of all the techniques of their time, dedicated to the collective aspirations of their builders.
– the second one aims to create a stronger sense of immersion on Secondlife. How to push the 256m limit of a Sim and give a city its natural dimension compared to our character? The solution I found is to build on a 1/10th scale and make the avatar invisible, apparently enclosed in the cockpit of a vehicle whose size and speed are made consistent with the scale of the buildings. Thus, it is in a city of 2.56 km side that you move, which is the equivalent of the surface of 100 normal Sims. The offsim background emphasizes this scale effect since these hundred meters high hills really seem here to be mountains topping up the skyscrapers.

About 11000 prims, 500 constructions of more than 100 different designs, 6 transport lines of 20 km in total (at scale), 6 bridges; diversity and excess that evoke but do not equal that of the megacities of our time. I hope that you will take as much pleasure in visiting this city as I had to build it during the 6 months of its realization.

The city, that Gem has built, has clearly different districts in which the skyscrapers are of the same colour or at least of a similar style, just as they had been built by the same architect. Some forms and silhouettes seem familiar. The reason is that Gem has used some of the world’s most famous skyscrapers as a model for his skyscrapers. He added some drafts of skyscrapers that were never built and some of his own ideas.
The city remembered me of Chicago with the river and the bridges crossing it. You must try to move your vehicle close to the ground for a different perspective as well as flying above the city in order to get an overview.

Before I finished my visit I went home, dressed again and returned to see Gem’s Skyscrapers again but this time 10 times smaller. Again I got different views!

Impressions of Gem’s Skyscrapers (6)

I wrote already quite often about Gem Preiz and his fractal art, the last time just a few weeks ago, when I visited his installation “Elusive Reality“. In 2019 I visited his own art gallery the “Gem Preiz Fractal Art Gallery”.
Gem Preiz is educated in science and mathematics and is fond of anything related to Nature, Cosmos and Earth, from astronomy to geology and to architecture. Seeing his work in Second Life is always a particular experience and so was my visit to Gem’s Skyscrapers.

Thank you very much for this great installation, Gem. I enjoyed it to the fullest!

Diary 2020 (52) April 9th/10th Easter Bunnies

Thursday, April 9th, I met with Mistress Jenny in the afternoon for an hour. Mistress filled me in with the latest news from our Kitty and her current adventure or expierence: “I went to see Amy (chastitycontroled) this morning. She had Kitty wearing a spreader bar and leashed to a ring. She was teasing her for making a puddle on the bench and changed her name in speach to Kitty “Puddle whore”. Then Kitty changed her display name to “PUDDLE WHORE”, very funny!”
We went to Heavy Bondage Club and enjoyed the view, read profiles and chatted. It was quite relaxed, just the right thing to do for me as it distracted me for RL and my worries there.

A couple of days before Mistress Jenny proposed to have an Easter party on God Friday night with bunnies as the theme and we would have a contest for the best outfit to add some fun. Thursday night we told slave Gwendi and slave Flo about our plans while we stayed at Mesmerize Dungeon with them, Ann and Robur (Roburion).
We left Mesmerize Dungeon and went to Brii where slave Flo and slave Gwendi got an according outfit. Mistress Jenny also selected an outfit for herself and for me. After these preparations we went back home and played a skipee as teams. Once again slave Gwendi and I won it and Mistress Jenny and slave Flo suspect that it had to do with the chairs. Hence we will shuffle chairs next time although I doubt that will help *winks*.
While we played skipee slave slut cecy showed up again – the 3rd day in a row – and she watched us playing obediently. We managed to finish the game punctually at flotime and I unlocked slave Gwendi and slave Flo so that they could change for our party the next day before both went off and to bed.

April 9th: Mistress Jenny and Diomita at Heavy Bondage Club / at Mesmerize Dungeon with slave Flo, slave Gwendi, Ann and Robur (Roburion) / shopping at Brii with the slaves / playing skipee and preparing slave slut cecy

Mistress Jenny and I took slave slut cecy to the dance floor and we leashed her there in case she comes online the 4th day in a row. Mistress Jenny bought some bunny ears for her, now she’s even dressed properly. And that’s it about Thursday.

Friday, April 10th, was a holiday where I live. I went inworld in the morning and met Mistress Jenny at the Lesbian Love Boat. We caught up with our news and went to Heavy Bondage Club for a bit. When Mistress had to leave to tend to her RL, we returned home and to my surprise Mistress exchanged my slave collar with the partnering collar again. I can never predict when that happens nor which collar Mistress has in mind. Anyway that was a nice surprise.

I went on a short simploring tour and visited one sim and 2 art installations. Honestly writing about these 3 places took more time then visiting itself took *winks*.
Later in the afternoon I met Mistress again and we changed into our bunny costumes for our party later that day. We rezzed the contest board and Mistress adjusted the region windlight. And I sent out a note for the party: “It is Friday and it is Easter weekend, and what better than to have an Easter Bonnet or Bunny Competition. There will be a reward splitted according to the votes so dress up and have fun. See you later, friends .. we look forward to seeing you and your outfits.”

I couldn’t hold back and asked Mistress for allowance to lick her and she granted it under the condition of a public place. Hence I selected Mature Dommes and I enjoed Mistress’ taste at the uneven bars. Thank you, Mistress my love. We went to club Domme a Domme and to Psi’s realm and just enjoyed being together and chatting.

And Friday night we had our Easter party. slave Flo and slave Gwendi looked great in their costumes. We gathered early at the dancefloor with the slaves, Sarah and vero and started punctually – and had fun!

And the contest? Ann increased the reward from 2000 L to 3000 L, thank you! In the end each vote equaled 230 L. Starry won the contest with 5 votes, slave Gwendi got 3 votes, slave Flo, slave cecy and others got 1 vote. Congratulations!

Backflash April 2020 – My 2nd and 3rd collaring day (April 21st, 2015 & 2016)

In the “Backflash” series I select an old entry once a month and present it here. This way I force myself to browse in the archive and to fresh up a few of the many memories. For our readers the new series shall provide an insight into our Second Life without reading back the many posts and it might also give reason to browse through the archives.
For April 2020 I selected 2 posts and both were written on the occasion of my collaring day (April 21st, 2013). The first post is from 2015 (my 2nd anniversary) and explains how my relation to Mistress Jenny changed and how we picked April 21st as my collaring day. The second post is from 2016 (my 3rd anniversary) that marked a more deceisive change in our relation. Since then and up until today, Mistress Jenny’s position as my owner strengthened and my submission became deeper and deeper, but I still get my green lights and we both enjoy them to the fullest. And today marks my 7th collaring anniversary! Time flies. Thank you Mistress Jenny for being my Mistress and my partner. I love you, Mistress. I submit to you, Mistress.

Celebrating my 2nd collaring day
(April 21st, 2015)

Jenny and I have several days that we celebrate, so we do get reminded about how time flies quite often. And today marks my 2nd official collaring day. I want to emphasise the word “official” as switching between us has a long history. When Jenny and I got married and spent the honeymoon in our skybox, Jenny already had one day when she dominated me. Honestly I don’t remember, if it was before our wedding or after it (I think it was after it) when Yasmin and Jenny arranged a scene where Yasmin added Jenny as 2nd owner besides herself to the my collar. And since that day we do switch every once in a while. Not that often when I was owned by Yasmin but more and more after my release of her collar.
Considering that, there’s no exact date for my collaring day. We simply picked it. Well that’s also not the whole truth behind it. After my release of Yasmin’s collar I had several scenes with others to fulfil my submissive needs and maybe to fill the lack caused by my release. My pretext was that I learn for my domme side if I submit in play to others. And up until today it is still exciting to play with others. Two years ago during a “green light” where Jenny was dominating me it came to my mind that my spoardic scenes in which I knelt for others but Jenny distinguished our already mutual ownership of eachother. While Jenny did not kneel for anybody else than me, I did. And I wanted to live up to her attitude and told Jenny about it. And later we agreed to take that day as my official collaring day.

We agreed on rules between us that allow scenes with others for me to happen, but ever since there was no play with anybody else that I didn’t confess to her or had her approval upfront. It is her decision how to handle it, when I confess kneeling to somebody else but her. And Jenny reinforced her ownership of me end of 2014 when I fully submitted to her. Don’t get it wrong, Jenny is still my property and her submission to me is without any doubt. This is our way as dommes as well as as submissives to live and enjoy our mutual ownership. And for most people it is hard to understand. It is for sure rare and we feel blessed having this tight relation.

Celebrating my 3rd collaring day
(April 21st, 2016)

April 21st marks my official collaring day. I wrote about how we picked this date last year at the same time. Another year went by. And this time my collaring day will be particular again, and different from last year. My relation to Jenny has further developed. She got more and more in control quite naturally, in a steady process, an ongoing change between us. On the occasion of my 3rd collaring day Jenny bought a new collar for me, a collar that I will wear every day and as opposed to before it is not the one she is wearing for me. This way this new collar for me expresses her ownership, her claim to fully own me. And I happily accept this gift as she accepts my gift of submission to her.

Mistress Jenny and Diomita

Mistress Jenny and I will still appear as a domme couple and I will still head the family. But it is at her to allow me to be equal to her and to wear the jewelery collar (the same that Mistress Jenny wears) for limited periods of time as she sees fit. And Jenny’s submissive side belongs to me only. Jenny will grant time for me to control her, to take advantage of her and to satisfy my demand of owning her – so nothing has changed between us regarding switching back and forth. Who knows, it might be that I’m more often in control than before? *winks*. And where is the difference? The emphases have changed, the balance between us – and just between us as this is most of all between the two of us.
To some extent we still try out ourselves, we continue our journey together. And if we’re not happy with it we can and we will change it again. This step was not easy for me and I admit hesitating but it is the right thing to do for me and it feels just right. For this 3rd collaring day I wrote new vows for Mistress Jenny, that shall express my submission to her. I’m thankful for what we had and I look forward to the time ahead (of course in particular to Jenny’s 8th collaring day in June *winks*).

Simploring 2020 (31) Bellefleurs

For my simploring tour on Monday, March 30th, I picked “Bellefleurs” from scoop.it SL Destinations because I like visiting palaces and manors in the physcial world as well as in Second Life. And Bellefleurs tempted me as well as the landmark description:
“Bellefleurs has been the seat of the Duchesses of Ominum since the 1590s. Built in the High English Renaissance style, it offers an En Garde piste, the legendary Salon Music series, dances, lectures, and other events.”

I found more in a notecard given when entering Bellefleurs:
“Bellefleurs was first built in 1591, and has been the seat of the Duchesses of Ominum ever since. Built in the High English Renaissance style, it has been a crossroads of history and played a unique role in a secretive past. As befits its “backstory”, Bellefleurs houses a collection of art and portraits from various periods, some rare, some personal. The larger, Bellefleurs estate is also home to the Canning Circle or the House of Sakura Courtesans. A nearby sign offers more information and a TP.   

Bellefleurs offers a variety of public events, such as it’s legendary Salon Music series hosted on Sundays, dances, lectures, and other gatherings.  Details about the history of the estate, the mysterious duchesses of Omnium, and the origins of the Canning Circle may be found in the book in the entrance hall.“

When you enter the palace you find a guestbook and a history book right in the center of the main hallway. I recommend to read the the history book as it helps understanding the setting of Bellefleurs. I was impressed! The history reads like many historic reviews of high nobility, the members interwoven, coined by intrigues and spread all over Europe – and it is a full fiction as is Bellefleurs itself. The history reads that real because it could have happened and because the historic background is true. It conjured a smile on my face. And there remain a lot of mysteries not yet solved.

I started my visit exploring the outside. There’s the Charlotte’s garden on the left of the palace and the Duchesses’ garden on the right. Both fit well though they point to different ages. Behind the palace is a terrace and a park that extends to the sea shore. I took a short break at the sea promenade, where you find a few chairs and tables. In the park is also an En Garde game (I loved fencing in my earlier years in Second Life), a Gazebo where you can dance and a large Obelisk.

Inside the palace is fully furnished. You find a gallery with pictures of the various Duchesses of the different ages (or is it all one and the same?), there’s a library, a music room and as it has to be a great hall for representation. Some rooms are private but there’s enough to explore and discover and it is all made with love for the little detail.

As mentioned above Bellefleurs is an adult place. It is home of the House of Sakura and the “Canning circle”: “SL’s Premier Courtesans – the original, since 2007. Sakura maintains an ethos of polite subdued flirtatious behaviour specifically for the elite of SL, who recognise quality, discretion and refinement. Experience the best in subtle flirtation, sip champagne in our Gentleman’s Club while appreciating intelligent conversation with our companions – and far more. Romance, Elegance, and erotic dancing.”

Again and again I’m surprised what corners, even kinky corners, I still haven’t seen in my 12 years in Second Life. Of course I peeked in the House of Sakura and took a few pictures.

Bellefleurs offers a great almost historic background for those who love taking pictures (like me), it is a great place for romance and considering the House of Sakura it also offers space for erotic adult play. I’m glad that I visited Bellefleurs and I enjoyed reading about its historic background. I really like Bellefleurs and the perfect setting. Thank you Indy (India Canning) for this gem of Second Life!

Diary 2020 (51) April 7th/8th Back at Mistress’ feet

Tuesday, April 7th, I met with Mistress Jenny in the afternoon again and we first caught up with our mutual news RL and SL. Mistress had a longer chat with Amy (Chastitycontroled) in the morning. The short version: Amy told Mistress that Kitty had treated one of her girls indecently with out any permission. Because of that Kitty is now strapped to a dildo and anal post at her estate and is watching porn. In addition none can see Kitty unless wearing a certain tag, so that she’s quite helplessly locked away. Amy was so kind to ask for our permission as Kitty is our property and Mistress encouraged her to do as she sees fit, to be strict, to take the ability to IM – or simply “the worse – the better”. It seems that our Kitty found some trouble and has a new adventure (and fun).

April 7th: Mistress Jenny and Diomita at home and at club Domme a Domme

Mistress Jenny and I went to club Domme a Domme for a bit and Mistress leashed me and made me wear my cuffs. We saw a new “Goddess”, really new, just 5 days old. We always have fun with Goddesses and Queens and other Royalities. That one turned out being nice and we had a short conversation with her in a group chat. Our (short) time in the afternoon went by quickly and before we had to leave into our RL’s, Mistress locked me into a hogtie and leashed me at your skybox at home. Why? Because she can.

Our night developed unexpectedly. First Mistress Jenny and I had a skipee with the slaves. We chatted while we played and Ann also came by and watched a while. When we had finished, I really needed to go peeing – and slave slut cecy showed up. Instead of waiting to get a proper footkiss from our slut, I took slave Gwendi with me to our dungeon and used her as my toilet there, what a relief!

We decided to take the slaves to Psi’s realm where it was full once again. We had fun watching what was going on. And Mistress and I also chatted a bit with slave slut and know now that she’s doing well which is important these days. Punctually at flotime we returned home and said good night to the slaves.
Mistress and I retreated to our skybox. I had have sensed that Mistress Jenny was shortening my leash the last days already, yet she denied it when I asked her. Anyway, first thing when we had retreated was that she exchanged my normal collar with the slave collar taking me back into deep subspace. At the same time Mistress announced that I will get a green light very soon. What a rollercoaster!

Before we went off to bed, Mistress allowed me to get my fix and to lick her. Thank you, Mistress Jenny.

Wednesday, April 8th, we just had a bit more than half an hour together inworld in the afternoon. Mistress took me to Heavy Bondage Club and I enjoyed being at her feet. we chatted caught up, looked at profiles and our time just flew by. At night slave Flo and slave Gwendi were present and Mistress proposed to attend Gravity (theriaeriker)’s Wednesday night party at Caged Elegance. We had a great time, good music and nice chats amoung us as well as in public chat. While we were there slave slut cecy came inworld and she had to wait at home for our return.

April 8th: Mistress Jenny and Ehesklavin Diomita at Heavy Bondage Club / Mistress Jenny and Diomita with slave Flo and slave Gwendi at Gravity’s Wednesday night party at Caged Elegance

Back home we took the slaves to our terrace and while we talked we teased slave slut cecy in private chat. Argi came by as well and it is always refreshing to see and to talk with her. I was really surprised when slave Flo stood up at flotime I hadn’t noticed how late it was.
Mistress Jenny and I retreated to your skybox and to crown an enjoyable night, Mistress Jenny allowed me once again to lick her and to get my fix. I might get even more addicted to Mistress.

SL Destinations by Annie Brightstar closed

Today, Saturday April 18th, I had a look at Annie Brightstar (anniebrightstar)’s scoop.it SL Destinations. I look it up almost daily. The first entry is from Annie herself: “Second Life Destinations started June 2013. It will NOT be updated after Satruday April 18th, 2020 when my subscription to Sccop.it is due for renewal. Thank you very much for all your support over the years. We have some wonderful travel bloggers in Second Life, please consider following them directly.“

Annie’s scoop.it SL Destinations had been my first source for finding new places for quite some years. I could get a first impression of many places without going through a list of blogs. Thank you so much for all of your work over these almost 7 years, Annie. Your SL Destinations will be missed badly.

Simploring 2020 (30) Hedins-Oe

For my simploring tour on Friday, March 27th, I picked “Hedins-Oe“. I came across it scrolling through scoop.it SL Destinations. The entry led me to a post of Maddy Gynoid in his “echtvirtuell blog” – “Simtipp: Hedins-Oe“. What caught my eye was not just the picture along with the entry in scoop.it SL Destinations but even more the name of the sim “Dio”. Of course I was almost obliged to visit!

Hedins-Oe is an adult homestead owned and designed by Sari Paine (salisaria) and her partner Joyn Paine. The sim’s landmark description just consists of a few tags “viking, wikinger, rollenspiel, roleplay, historisch, history“. Hedins-Oe is a roleplay sim für vikings around the year 800.

Right next to the landing point is a wodden barrel where you can grab a notecard with information about the roleplay for which the sim was created – it is in German only though. Annie (AnnieBrightstar) who runs scoop.it SL Destinations has already translated most parts of the notecard. Thank you, Annie!

In 794 AD, a group of brave adventurers from Denmark set out to explore and settle in the new countries in the west, including women, children, experienced warriors and artisans. The last trip should go to Haithabu, wait for the winter there and take provisions. But the boat got into a storm that was supposed to last for two days. Without navigation and with a destroyed boat, you were stranded on an unknown island, the island of Hedins-Oe, an immaculate island with thick forests and fertile soil. The will of the gods seemed to have brought them here. Camps were opened and it was decided to settle here …

Impressions of Hedins-Oe (3)

Haithabu is the German name for Hedeby, an important Danish Viking Age (8th to the 11th centuries) trading settlement near the southern end of the Jutland Peninsula, now in the Schleswig-Flensburg district of Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. It is the most important archaeological site in Schleswig-Holstein (see wikipedia). It is also close to where most of my family lives and I’ve been there quite some times.

The nature, the houses and the atmosphere are quite well fitting to how it looks in the physcial world. There are just not that many high rocks and high waterfalls). And unfortunately the steady rain at Hedins-Oe in Second Life also fits way to often. Anyway, Hedins-Oe is very well made and exploring it is fun and it offers many great opportunities for taking pictures.

Some of the figures of the roleplay are placed as static mesh figures to liven up the scenery. These figures can also be played by roleplayers. The largest house in the village is furnished (according to the time) and you find some persons inside as well.

Sari Paine (salisaria) also owns a little shop named [XIV] Roleplay Apparel, where you can get some fitting clothes for becoming a viking.

Diary 2020 (50) April 5th/6th Enjoying our Second Life (II)

I had a relaxed day in both worlds, RL and SL, on Sunday, April 5th. I was online several times during the day, spent time at Heavy Bondage Club, checked landmarks and even re-visited Ralf’s Dark Paradies, a sim reminding me of my first years in Second Life and it still exists. Finally in the early evening I went to peek at a new exhibtion, that was going to be opened some days later.

I met with Mistress at our usual time at night and we first caught up with our mutual news before we went seeing slave Flo, slave Gwendi and Ann. Mistress was up for a skipee and hence we played while Ann watched us most of the time. It was fun as the game was close in the end. And Mistress teased me in IM as her cards were not fitting that she will blow off her anger with me later. Knowing that she can made me sweat – and thus I fulfilled what Mistress had intended *winks*

April 5th: Mistress Jenny, Diomita, slave Flo, slave Gwendi and Ann at home and at Mesmerize Dungeon

After our game we went to Mesmerize Dungeon for half an hour and we had fun reading profiles and chatting. It was full and some people we know were there. Mistress came up with the idea of a blog entry about profiles and appearances and started a list:
1. A hat means you want to be looking like being a very strict Domme, stricter than all the rest
2. Pushy subs are not subs at all but needy people with attitude
(to be continued, we will aork on that list as well as on the point system for subs/slaves that I presented here a week or two before).

April 5th: Mistress Jenny and Diomita at club Domme a Domme and at home

At Flotime we returned home and said good night to the slaves. Mistress Jenny took me to club Domme a domme for a few minutes and started teasing me again. Finally we returned to our skybox and Mistress spoiled me with allowing me to lick and spoil her. Thank you, Mistress. It crowned a relaxed night.

Monday, April 6th, Mistress Jenny and I could meet in the afternoon. Mistress made me wear a straight jacket and took me to Heavy Bondage Club where we caught up with our news. slave Luci joined us there. I enjoyed being close to Mistress and talking with her, she enjoyed her power and my full submission. We talked about our plans for the night and for our next Friday night party. Back home Mistress had a present for me, a new and very daring short skirt. Mistress left me leashed and restricted in our skybox.

April 6th: Mistress Jenny and Diomita at home in our skybox and at Heavy Bondage Club with slave Luci

At night we had a full house at first. Angelique, Ann, slave Flo and slave Gwendi were present and we took them to our fetish club to entertain us. slave Flo and slave Gwendi danced for us in the golden cages, Mistress Jenny, Ann, Angelique and I chatted. Ann and Angelique left quite early, slave Luci joined us. I ordered slave Gwendi to me and slave Luci replaced her dancing in the golden cage. I removed the shield of slave Gwendi’s belt and allowed her to have some fun with the dildo cushions at our fetish club. slave Gwendi gave us a nice show.

April 6th at our Fetisch Club Chez Maurer: Mistress Jenny, Diomita, Angelique, Ann, slave Gwendi, slave Flo and slave Luci

We left our club and had a game of greedy, then slave Flo and slave Gwendi went off to bed and Mistress Jenny and I had some time at club DeLust before we went to bed ourselves.

And that’s it about two more days simply enjoying our second life.

Art in Second Life 2020 (19B) Michiel Bechir Galleries current exhibtions

At Michiel Bechir Galleries a new exhibtion was opened on Friday, April 10th. I went there on Saturday, April 11th. The exhibition features the work of Tresore Prada (tresore), Mélodie Heart (mariemadeleine38), Star (gossamerstar) on the 2nd floor and Michiel Bechir’s own art on the 1st floor. Unfortunately I didn’t find a notecard with more information about the artists, hence I have only some basic information.

Tresore Prada (tresore) is in SL since 2011. She writes about herself “I love SL because it allows me to explore, discover new parts of myself, be creative, connect and experience others. It enriches my life. I have found in photography and visual arts the perfect outlet for creativity.” At Michiel Bechir’s Galleries we see her pictures, that are related to peaceful fairy fantasy worlds. The floor of the room at the gallery is covered with grass and wildflowers, there’s a fountain and the opportunity to sit. This way you see the pictures in a fitting environment.

Tresore Prada (Tresore) at Michiel Bechir’s Galleries

Mélodie Heart (mariemadeleine38) is in SL since 2016. She has had several exhibtions also together with other artists in Second Life and her art work has messages – mostly realated to nature and evironmental issues: “This paper cut world will replace the world we live in once it will be worn out.” I haven’t seen this kind of art in Second Life yet but only in RL and I like it! The world map made up with pieces of paper, almost breaking apart dominates the room with her art. But look also at all the other paper cut work.

Mélodie Heart (mariemadeleine38) at Michiel Bechir’s Galleries

Star (gossamerstar) is Canadian and in Second Life since 2013. Star had a few exhibtions before. The art presented at Michiel Bechir Galleries fits a bit to the art of Mélodie Heart (mariemadeleine38), the floor of the room is also covered with green gras and there’s an Angel statue made of stone in the center of the room. The pictures itself are are also related to fantasy worlds yet a tiny bit less romantic (I wonder is there something like more or less romantic?)

Star (gossamerstar) at Michiel Bechir’s Galleries

Michiel Bechir is quite a while in Second Life already (since 2007). Michiel art deals also with pictures taken within Second Life. He says about himself:
“I have started my long virtual journey as a photographer in Second Life in 2009. First my main motivation was to share the richness of creations of all those different sims, with all their aspects. I discovered the options offered by several photo tools, which helped me to improve the shots I captured. By editing them I try to add a personal touch and feeling.”
Michiel’s pictures are impressive as the processing makes them more colourful and highlights the beauty or the original picture.

Art in Second Life 2020 (19A) “Meant to Be” by Bamboo Barnes

On Saturday, April 11th, I went on a quick art tour again visiting. I visited Itakos Art Gallery to see a new exhibtion that was opened the day before – “Meant to Be” by Bamboo Barnes.

Together with the invitation I got a notecard with basic Informations about Bamboo Barnes as well as about the exhibtion itself: “Bamboo Barnes is a self-taught Japanese artist who has been working with digital images in Secondlife for some years, and also works with digital in real life. The first striking thing about her artwork is an incredible explosion of colors, deep and dense, spread as if on a fantastic palette with a surreal flavor.”

Bamboo is in Second Life for over 13 years already, painting software & photoshop are her best friends. Bamboo had many exhibtions and appearances in the Second Life art scene and in 2018 she had her first exhibition in real life: “I create what I see but maybe you won’t, they are about people’s reality and  mind.” Bamboo’s art is a mixture of abstract forms, of people and photographs. Most pictures are colourful and it is in the eye of the beholder what we see in her pictures. I saw her work the first time at La Maison d’Aneli during the Holiday season 2019/2020 (read here)

Impressions of “Meant to Be” by Bamboo Barnes at Itakos Art Gallery – Blue Pavillion

The exhibtion “Meant to Be” at Itakos Art Gallery shows mainly portrait pictures, portraits that are processed, changed, that are colourful and inspire to think and creat an own story for them. Same goes for the few pictures that are not restricted to faces or parts of faces: “Fantasies and very personal dreams speak of her life, they are imbued with emotion in telling her favorite themes : the confusion of life, hope, strange love .. but above all, what I read is a focus on abandonment.“

The Itakos Art Gallery is owned and curated by Akim Alonzo. Actually it is a place for arts with 7 exhibition rooms or pavillons: White, Black, Grey, Blue, Orange, Purple, Green Pavillion. “Meant to Be” by Bamboo Barnes is shown in the blue pavillion. There’s also a website where new exhibtions are announced.
