Art in Second Life 2020 (11) The Meaning of Love by Natalia Seranade

For my art afternoon on Wednesday, March 4th, I first picked the Nitroglobus Roof Gallery from scoop.it SL Destinations. Nitroglobus Roof Gallery is a Second Life gallery that has exhibitions and installations of both emerging and well-known artists and is owned and curated by Dido Haas. Besides the art of Dido Haas herself the Nitroglobus Roof Gallery currently features an exhibition named “The Meaning of Love” by Natalia Seranade.

Natalia Seranade is almost 10 years in Second life. She captures encounters, random incidents and morphs them, using Photoshop, into works of art. Natalia has had quite some exhibtions in Second Life already, yet it is the first that I came across her. She titeled the exhibtion “The Meaning of Love”. Along with a short biography of her you can grab a notecard at the gallery with Natalia’s thoughts about the exhibition:
Love in Second Life is not different from Real Life, it is a relation between two people – it works out happily or it doesn’t. But there are many risks when getting involved in a virtual relationship: ‘the dark side’, as Natalie calls it. She gives just a few examples: “the large amount of people who lie, who pretend to be a person they are not, giving false information, showing fake pictures, etc. People with addictions, people with mental  disorders, people with more that one avatar (ALTs) used for ‘bad’ purposes like spying or harassing, or, used even to have other ‘lives’ with other relationships. People who do ghosting: the practice of ceasing all communication and contact with a partner, without any apparent justification and subsequently ignoring any attempts to reach out or communicate made by said partner.
Behind the screen people tend to show the good and hide their flaws. There are many disappointments.
It seems that everything in SL happens more fast then in RL: some people meet, immediately start a relationship and get married (partnered). However, most of the time a fast start indicates a fast ending. One of the reasons being that in the minds of the partners they create an ideal figure of who they hope to find. This idealization creates expectations and people get hurt when things don’t go as they expected. The mind can turn ‘nothing’ into ‘everything’ and ‘everything’ into ‘nothing’. Love in SL is it real or just a fantasy?”

Natalia’s pictures impress through their strong colours. It takes some time to see the details. I was in particular impressed by a picture named “The first filter” showing two persons holding up boards, on one board you find a very common motto in Second Life: SL=SL / RL=RL, meaning the strict separation of the two, on the other board you find the opposite SL=RL. The picture expresses perfectly that people with different attitudes won’t fit unusally and the one who wants to cross the line between RL and SL might be hurted.

Hurted feeling and fears is the common theme of “The Meaning of Love” but there are also quite some pictures that can be interpreted as joyful. The pictures of Natalia Serenade fit very well in the Nitroglobus Roof Gallery. The mirrowing floor showcase them perfectly and adds another dimension to them. The statues and the other stuff of Dide Haas complete the exhibtion room. Overall, I really liked this exhibtion. Very well done!

In a second room Dido Haas presents her own art. Dido is a photographer, she is the owner and curator of Nitroglobus Hall, as well as a blogger (Exploring SL with Dido). At least right now her permanent exhibition presents erotic portraits and pictures, I assume of herself. Once again the pictures develop a particular strength through the mirror effect of the floor – beside that the pictures are highly erotic in my personal opinion. And they fit perfectly to the current exhibtion “The Meaning of Love”.

Art in Second Life 2020 (10) Another Fairy Tale by Cica Ghost

Yesterday, March 7th, I got an invitation from Cica Chost. She had opened her newest installation named “Another Fairy Tale“. As usual Cica provides a quote along with her installation, something to think about while visiting “Everything you look at can become a fairy tale and you can get a story from everything you touch. (Hans Christian Andersen)“

Right at the landing you’re asked to use advanced lighting and to set shadows with sun/moon and projectors. The scenery at Another Fairy Tale by Cica Ghost is set at night and Cica plays with lights and projectors to showcase her animals. This time we meet dragons, some snails, some other animals which I’d call horses or unicorns (it’s something inbetween), bugs, dead sharks and other fantasy animals.

The human visitor is once again just a dwarf. Even the flowers are huge. The landscape is hilly but sometimes what seems to be a hill is just the tail or the back of another huge dragon or animal. As always it is fun to have a detailed look at Cica’s animals with their big eyes that seemingly watch you.

Opposed to the landing point you find 3 dead sharks that stick in the ground. Their opened mouth is the entrance to kind of a living room for snails. And plants and flowers are growing from the sharks gills. Bugs fly around everywhere, I didn’t count them, and they are also really big. You can “sit” on them and will find yourself hanging at one to their legs and accompany them flying around.

By th use of projectors some animals are in the spotlight sometimes and that makes them look even more interesting, for example one dragon – or is it the monster of Loch Ness (?), comes up from the depths of the sea and looks around.

Close to the landing point is the biggest dragon, you can walk up it’s tail and back almost up to it’s head and you get a nice view from there. Under it’s tail, that is used as bridge, is another smaller dragon in the sea.

I had fun exploring Another Fairy Tale by Cica Ghost and looking at Cica’s animals. And you can let your mind wander and think of a fantasy or fairy tale that would fit into this scene. Although the animals are huge, they are not scary. They seem to be peacefully enjoying their lives and to look very interested at these little human visitors.

Overall, Cica’s animals made me smile again. Thank you for another great fantasy world, Cica!

Art in Second Life 2020 (9) La Maison d’Aneli – March 2020

Yesterday, on Wednesday, March 4th, Aneli opened her next joined exhibtion featuring the art of Bachi Cheng, Cybele Moon (Hana Hoobinoo), In Inaka, Mistero Hifeng, Serena Parisi and Blip Mumfuzz.

As I’m always spend my time a night with Mistress Jenny and the family I visited the exhibition already on Monday and Tuesday, March 2nd/3rd. When you visit after the official openening there might be some minor changes to what I saw these days.

My visit started with the room of Bachi Cheng, an artist painter and designer in RL and SL. Bachi writes about herself and her art: “I love to paint Moments. Moments of life, Moments of Love, Moments so deep that you never want to forget them, Moments at the edge of orgasm or despair, just life like we ought to live it, plainly. Let me take you in the core of my Art”
Her art is quite feisty and exaggerated, transpiring her message clearly and not subtle, sometimes reminding of comic strips and clearly explicit. In the center of her room is a board game “The game of the mad” and fitting to this theme you find a painting at the wall “La nef des fous” – “The ship of the mad”. In her art there’s a lot to discover!

La Maison d’Aneli in March 2020 – Bachi Cheng

Serena Parisi explores Second Life and real life for many years (actually SL since 2006). At La Maison d’Aneli we see pictures from a journey to Burma (or Myanmar). Serena took mainly protraits of people and these portraits provide some insight into the contury. Serena is in particular excited about the colours that characterize this country. In the notecard that you can grab at her room she also writes obout the secret of beauty of the Burmese: Thanaka. Thanaka is a yellowish-white cosmetic paste made from ground bark of several trees which grow abundantly in central Myanmar. It is a distinctive feature of the culture of Myanmar, seen commonly applied to the face and sometimes the arms of women and girls (source wikipedia)

La Maison d’Aneli in March 2020 – Serena Parisi

Hana Hoobinoo aka CybeleMoon titeled her room at La Maison d’Aneli “The Spaewife’s Island” and it the accompanying notecard she gives some information: “As an introduction to the exhibit for those who may not have heard the term spaewife, it is both Celtic and Icelandic in origin and is a woman with the second sight, possibly a seer or a witch , definitely a woman of both woodland and seashore.”
The island is in the back part of the room, the walls show Cybele’s art, scenes and protraits with a particular expression, each of them telling its own story, be it a dream, melancholy or pure joy.

La Maison d’Aneli in March 2020 – Hana Hoobinoo

Blip Mumfuzz is a SL verteran, being inworld since 2007. Blip has the talent to take very extraordinairy picutures in Second Life. Her art, shown at La Maison d’Aneli, is to select the right cut-out of a picture and to rearrange the cut-out sometimes to show contrasts, at other times just to seperate the cut-out from the rest of the picture and to give it a new and own meaning. In my opinion the result is intruguing.

I came across Ini (In Inaka) in 2017 the first time when I visited an installation of her at “MetaLes ..O.. ArT Virtual Space” (read here) and when I visited her plave Blue Orange, a friendly bohemian club for MUSIC and ART lovers (read here). I hadn’t seen anything from her every since. Her space at La Maison d’Aneli wasn’t yet finally prepared, but I could see the paintings at the walls, all in the same style, all in black and white, all very large and rich of details. They show dark fantasies, a bit morbid and scary, yet pulling you into the scene, tempting you to see more of the details and to try getting the gist of them.
Remark: I quickly checked Blue Orange – right now it is closed for little holidays and renovation, but I was reminded to have a look at it again.

La Maison d’Aneli in March 2020 – In Inaka

Finally I visited the exhibition of Mistero Hifeng at La Maison d’Aneli. Mistero Hifeng is quite renowned in Second Life and I come across his art in Second Life quite often. I think he’s Italian and he’s creating his art in SL for more than 12 years. I myself have one sculpture of him at our homesim. Mistero developed his own, unique style. You recognize his sculptures immediately. And they all expresses emotions and tell a story. Unfortunately – at least in my personal opinion – the strength of expression of his sculptures do not develop in the same way when they packed into one room. I think they can better develop standing alone or in smaller groups. Nonetheless, you get a real great overview about his art at this exhibtion.

La Maison d’Aneli is owned by Aneli Abeyante. Through her gallery she brings together all forms of creativity in RL and SL and the featured artists come from around the globe. Aneli’s intention is to “put her gallery in the service of artists, so that the world can be better, exchanges and meetings probably contribute even though it seems to be particles.”
Thank you for another great joined exhibtion, Aneli. As always I enjoyed my visit and writing about it. It always inspires me.

Art in Secone Life 2020 (8) Wonderland Art Gallery & Cafe

I visited the Wonderland Art Gallery & Cafe which displays art made by second life artists Norton Lykin, Nevereux, Bryn Oh and Mistero Hifeng. In the landmark description you find the following wisdom to accompany you during your visit to the gallery “Life is a story, choose wisely how you tell it“. Wonderland Art Gallery & Cafe is owned by Norton Lykin. One room of the gallery features the art of Nevereux, the other rooms feature Norton’s own work. I found on statue from Bryn Oh and on of Mistero Hifeng.

I first came across Norton Lykin when I visited La Masion d’Aneli in November 2019 (Simploring 2019 (108) La Maison d’Aneli – November 2019). Norton is with over 12 years a SL veteran. He’s living in Denmark and took up his art activities after his retirement as a system programmer. He sees life as a journey “The ideas we have and the history we tell. Reality is not a scientific truth but as we understand it in every given moment.”
This journey of life is Norton’s theme. I saw one picture and text about it at the above mentioned exhibtion at La Maison d’Aneli and the same picture is a centerpiece of Norton’s Wonderland Art Gallery.

One room on the ground floor features the work of Nevereux, an artist who I came across twice so far. Firstly visiting doLLoureux at Daphne.Arts (read here) and secondly at La Maison d’Aneli (Simploring 2018 (97) Another joined exhibition at La Maison d’Aneli). His room at the Wonderland Gallery shows 2D and 3D art objects. Outstanding is a row of presentation boxes opened to present little art objects, from a simple glass of wine, a butterly, an earth globe (moving to Mars), a duck ….
On the other side is a 3D installation held in black consisting of globes, flowers and a fish. I won’t try to interpret, I just enjoyed the forms and colours and the row of presentation boxes conjured a smile in my face as some of them are funny.

The main entrance hall and the second room on the groud floor as well as the entire 2nd floor presents Norton Lykin’s own art, showing pictures playing with colours and shadows, or little 3D scenes and some statues. At the stairway you find a large picture obviously taken at an installion of Theda Tammas named “the Womb” (I missed that).

On the second floor you also find the café, a nice place to relax or maybe to talk about the art you just saw.

Yesterday, I had my 12th anniversary of joining Second Life.
It has become a tradition for me to write a longer blog post on the occasion of my rezzdays, to have a look back on the last year and to realize the changes in my Second Life as well as the things that didn’t change. Yesterday, I published Part I of my anniversary entry and talked about my closer family and the changes in my family. Today’s part II is about the simploring tours I made in my 12th year.

12 years in Second Life – part II: My simploring tours

Let me start with my simploring tours about art in Second Life. I admire the creativity of artists in this virtual world, I visited galleries like Lyric Art Gallery, La Masion D’Aneli, 20][21 gallery, Rey’s Gallery, Shui Mo Gallery, Milly Sharple’s Fractal galleries, Daphne.Arts and Deva Westland’s Galerie Des Beaux-Arts. I visited and wrote about 7 installations of Cica Ghost, who continues to conjure a smile in my face with every of her funny whimsical creations. I saw fewer art installations since the Linden Endowment for the Arts (LEA) is on hold. But some private initiatives luckily provide space or the artists themselves dedicate their own space. Just recently I saw an exhibition of Mistero Hifeng’s art at Valium Creek Art Park. I saw “The Mind Melter” by Thoth Jantzen at VeGeTaL PLaNeT, I saw “Lalawood” by Theda Tammas, Yoon (onyxxe), Iono Allen and JadeYu Fhang at La Maison d’Aneli as well as “Binary Radiation” by Nino Vichan. I saw Twilights Doors by Bo Zano (Bozanonl Resident), “The Outer Garden” by bisou Dexler, “Inferno” by Noke Yuitza, “Avaloir” by Eupalinos Ugajin, Undertones by Oluja (artistik Oluja) and “Delicatessen – Tell Me a Story” by Meilo Minotaur.

Since January 2020 the blog has a new category for blogposts about art in Second Life, I won’t categorize old entries though.

I found many cosy and lovely sims where people built their own dreamworld, peaceful and picturesque. You don’t need many prims or a large place for it, Nevgilde Gaard or Black Mire – around hi-cafe are examples for that. Most of these dreamworlds were homesteads: Florence Bay, Authors Point, Secondlife National Park, Maderia Springs, Blaylock Island, Scarlett Isle, Carolina, Broken, Alternate Reality, Fleur Nederland [Dutch], La Digue, Northern Shore – Skärgården, Soul of Dreams … just to name a few. In these sims I spent relaxing hours and enjoyed the views and the peace.

Some were really particular. I want to mention Last Dove, a sim like a movie. It’s setting is based on Lonesome Dove, a 1985 Western novel by American writer Larry McMurtry. Last Dove is still open if you haven’t seen it yet. I also liked Kun-Tei-Ner, a sim that provided a scary view into mankind’s future, a place with no land, a city that grew up on a huge mountain of containers filled with broken technological stuff. And just recently I visited the SS Galaxy, the largest cruiseship in Second Life – impressive, in particular when you consider it’s history.

Then there were the sims that have a real background, where a place in the physical world was build in Second Life. This way I got a picture, an idea of the real places and my visits gave reason to do a little bit of research. Venice in Italy was one of these impressing places and I spent some time exploring it.
I had never heard about Ukivok before and now I have the feeling that I’ve been there already. I had heard of Huntington Beach before but wasn’t aware of it’s oil industry history. I also had heard and read of North Brother Island, yet I haven’t been there in real life (yet). Now I somehow feel like I’ve been there. I learned a lot about Chesapeake Bay, a place I’ve been to twice in reality already being not aware of it’s history.

I also discovered many places related to my kinky side, to BDSM. That’s another dream you can live in Second Life and I do. Unfortunately some of these places don’t stay long like the Elevate Femdom Lounge, Windhaven or Meadow Rose. Also some adult places, that we liked to visit every once in a while, are gone now like The Apostasy or Angel of Pain’s BDSM island (Remark: Angel of Pain has a successor sim)

Just recently I discovered Caged Elegance, a club with many member, lots of events and all sort of kinks. I enjoyed my visit to Catena et Cavea, an adult sim that is also really picturesque. Amrum is another place I not only went to for simploring but also for a session with Mistress Jenny when I had a green light. I like in particular the BDSM vacation home there.
We visited The Obliviation Hole RLV Prison of Starbright Wingtips who gave us a full tour. The prison and what is going on there is a regular subject when we chat during our Friday night parties.

Art in Second Life 2020 (7) Burlap by Cica Ghost

Today, Sunday February 9th, I got a message from Cica Ghost that she had opened her newest installation “Burlap by Cica Ghost“. There’s no thought or wisdom she gives us before visiting, this time it is a simple description about what to expect: “Burlap dolls and things….”

As expected the installation is about burlap, everything is made of burlap, the groud, the paths, the roads, the cica-ish houses, the flowers and the cica-ish inhabitants.

You find all kind of inhabitants: Rabbits, Lions, Cats, Bears, Ducks, Fishes … and they’re all tall again, very tall. As a visitor you’re like a dwarf or a small child visiting a peaceful happy world. And also things are huge compared to yourself, there’s a big old record player (look at the label of the record!) and a huge  cooking pot and some big plants and flowers. The houses though are a bit too small for the inhabitants.

You can purchase almost all (maybe even all) burlap dolls. At each group you find a small shop “Lion and Cat Shop”, “Bears Shop”, “Rabbits Shop”… and behind the burlap curtain are the vendors.

But there’s more to do and to have fun in the world of burlap. I took a free burlap jumping bag and explored “Burlap by Cica Ghost” jumping around. I also took a “Cica-mobil”, made of burlap as you can already guess, and explore driving around.

And there’re many spots to sit or to dance. Just hoover with your mouse over the object and sit when your get the according symbol.
Being childish and curios can be great fun, no – is great fun. And it made me smile. Just the right thing to do in Second Life to wind down. Thank you Cica!

Art in Second Life 2020 (6) Pencil Brush Paper by Bowfluv Curtiss

One year ago I visited The Citadel (see Simploring 2019 (9) The Citadel). The Citadel is a very well made adult/BDSM friendly venue. For me it has the perfect mixture of my personal Second Life: Art & Architecture, BDSM and a nice environment. The sim is owned by Lesk Alzael who also has a small store named Cabal at The Citadel. I bought a large obelisk and took a free copy of an “Architects Study Model” when I visited in 2019. Both items are at our homesim nowadays.

A few days ago I got a group message that there’s a new exhibition at the Black Lux Gallery at The Citadel. The gallery features the drawn art of Bowfluv Curtiss. The exhibtion is called simply “Pencil Brush Paper”

The Black Lux Gallery is in a large old plant hall with it’s industrial atmosphere. The hall is also used for events at The Citadel. Bowfluv’s art is exhibited at the walls and at a moveable wall in the center of the hall. There’re several erotic pencil drawings in black and white as well as other pictures that are coloured.

Close to the entrance on the left is the picture of a naked female posing for a coloured pencil brush paiting. For me this picture was the most intriguing at the exhibition. It is titeled “Marisa Mirror Mounted”

Each and every painting seems to tell a story. There’s a series of 4 female portraits. All are very different, although the first impression is that they are just slightly different. Each woman has a different eye colour, a different lipstick colour, a diffferent chin, different eye brows, different hair, a different nose. The longer you look at them the more you see the differences.

It’s the first time I ever saw Bowfluv’s art and I didn’t see any notecard or information about him at the gallery. Hence all I know is that he’s in Second Life for more than 13 years and that he still enjoys it (just like I do): “A long time here ….and still everyday a marvel.”

Art in Second Life 2020 (5) New La Maison d’Aneli – another exhibition

I was a bit confused at first when I got the invitation for another exhibtion at La Maison d’Aneli from Aneli Abeyante. I just had visted and reported about the current exhibtion a few days before (see Art in Second Life (3) La Maison d’Aneli January/February 2020)

To clarify it: Aneli has moved her La Maison d’Aneli gallery to another place. The exhibition that I visited before is still open at the Old La Maison d’Aneli and I assume it will stay open there as announced until February 18th.
At the new location there’s another exhibtion with partly the same artists: JadeYuFhang, Adwehe, Eylinea, Vroum Short, Gaston Wonder, Aneli Abeyante


I will keep this post a bit shorter as I lack time…


Gaston Wonder is an artist I didn’t come across before ever. He’s in Second Life for almost 10 years. The pictures exposed at La Maison d’Aneli play with mirror effects. Some of Gaston’s pictures use thick chains as his subject melting into a coloured abstract background. For me personally the picture with the ants was most intriguing.


Eylinea has her art exhibted at the Old La Maison d’Aneli as well as at the New La Maison d’Aneli. Eylinea is quite new to Second Life and explores for herself a broad variety of artistic possibilities in Second Life: painting, photography, sculpture and even soon tattoo creation. At La Maison d’Aneli she shows some permanently changing geometrical displays that reminded me of Spirograph.


Aneli Abeyante, who runs La Maison d’Aneli, has her own corner also in this exhibtion. Aneli creates objects in 2D and 3D, colourful, steadily moving, and with particular light effects. Aneli writes about herself:
“I love geometry and mathematics. So after much practice, I managed to clear structures and shapes. In reality I practice painting, I do not have precise style but I always seek harmonization.”
In her room we see geometrical shapes with light blue and with a bronze red as the dominating colour. Most of the displays as constantly changing, my pictures are just snapshots. I like who the art mirrors in the floor at this new exhibtion room!


JadeYu Fhang writes about herself:
“Living in Paris, France, i followed the evening classes in academic drawing at Fine Arts School of Paris and was trained at the Applied Arts School of this city.
After these studies I completely stopped all artistic work. My journey is atypical made of multiple experiences. I returned to artistic work when I was able to get rid of all the academic rigidity that had been taught me.
My experience on Second Life since 12 years allows me to continue and improve my work and extend it to 3D.”
At La Maison d’Aneli her room also plays the the mirror effect of the floor. There’re 2 identical figures in JadeYu’s room, I’d characterize them as dancer. The gown and the figure itself look differently and is coloured differently depending on your view angle. The same figure can be seen in the background pictures. JadeYu plays with the visitors impression, she plays with light effects as well as with feelings. Look into the face of the dancers….


Adwehe has her art exhibted at the Old La Maison d’Aneli as well. This time it is a water scenery with a very interesting floor. There’re no ladders this time and some quite intriguing objects. I also like the two big abstract pictures in Adwehe’s installation.

Vroum Short is the owner of VeGaTal PLaNeT, the sim hosting the old La Maison d’Aneli.
Vroum Short is a French SL artist since 2007. As mentioned above she created VeGeTaL PLaNet, the location of the Old La Maison d’Aneli. VeGeTaL PLaNet is “a world where everything becomes possible and achievable where the barriers of reality fade away to let the imagination flood it with life. In her underwater exhibitions, living plant sculptures and luminous paintings, animated in 3D, mingle“.
Vroum Short’s art, currently exhibited at La Maison d’Aneli is a walkable colourful collection of geometric forms, almost looking like plants, then like playfully arranged queues. To demonstrate how you walk through the art I placed myself in one of the pictures.

La Maison d’Aneli is owned by Aneli Abeyante. Through her gallery she brings together all forms of creativity in RL and SL and the featured artists come from around the globe. Aneli’s intention is to “put her gallery in the service of artists, so that the world can be better, exchanges and meetings probably contribute even though it seems to be particles.”

P.S.: I really like the new exhibitions rooms, spacious and suitable for effects.

Art in Second Life 2020 (4) Strange Garden

On scoop.it SL Destinations I came across a post on 99 faces “Strange Garden by Cherry Managa“. The picture along with the post caught my attention.
Strange Garden is located in a huge skybox sphere at ADreNaLin, a new art and music place owned by JadeYu Fhang and Cherry Manga. In the above mentioned blogpost you’ll find a short video taken at Secret Garden, that gives you an even better impression of what to expect.

Impressions of Strange Garden (1)

The installation was created by Cherry Manga and is held in black and while. There’re for sure several ways how you can interpret it, art looks different for everybody and causes different thoughts. One possible interpretation is given in the blogpost on 99 faces. For me it simply set my mind free to wander.
The background consist of bald trees and the silhouette of what could be a bit City. Inside all objects are either black or white and thes wave with the wind or move. Thus you get a different view all the time. At the landing is a stair that winds up into the sky. If you walk upstairs you will fall down at one point. At the landing point you also find a free avatar, a fantasy being in black and white, that you can use for your visit and that will make you melt into the installation and become a part of it – if you like.
When you visit be prepared that you can suddently fall out of the sphere, in particular when you go closer to the walls. It might be intended, who knows *winks*.  Don’t worry, in Second Life you can fly back and re-enter the Strange Garden easily.

Impressions of Strange Garden (2)

There’s kind of a pond in the center and inside is a shark and a jellyfish. At one place you find sort of a grave with a skull and candles but at least for me the Strange Garden isn’t scary. It’s fantasy … black and white … life and death … danger and the feeling of security, it’s beautiful and ugly … and maybe that is why it makes your mind and thoughts wander.
Cherry also created the music that you hear when visiting Strange Garden, a psychedelic sound and very fitting to what you see.

You can buy some of the objects used at Strange Garden, just hover over the object and you might get the L$ symbol for purchasing. You should also visit the ADreNaLin store where you can get some of Cherry Manga’s art for free, the teleport point to the store is just next to the landing. The store itself with it’s geometrical forms that move up and down, with its cubes and walls is worth a visit!

Yesterday, Wednesday, January 22nd, La Maison d’Aneli had the opening of another joined exhibition of several artists. Aneli Abeyante features Quadrapop Lane at “La Serre” and Adwehe, Anadonne, DekabristMouse, Kara Mellow, Eylinea and her own art at the main gallery. Once again I visited the exhibition before the official opening, as I couldn’t attend the opening itself.
The exhibition will stay opened until February 18th.

I started my tour in the main gallery with the art of Eylinea. She quite new to Second Life and explores for herself a broad variety of artistic possibilities in Second Life: painting, photography, sculpture and even soon tattoo creation. At La Maison d’Aneli she shows some permanently changing geometrical displays that reminded me of Spirograph

La Maison d’Aneli January/February 2020 – Eylinea

Violaine (anadonne) is in Second Life for 3 years now. Her pictures at La Maison d’Aneli are mostly abstract. Some of them look like maps coloured in different tones of one colour, in other pictures you recognize parts of human bodies. Violaine’s pictures are displayed in groups that belong to one theme each.

Mouse (dekabristmouse), a russian art student likes furry, space and fallout themes. He runs a shop for space, ground and water vehicles and for furry mods. At his corner at La Maison d’Aneli he displays drawing of furries and fantasy arts with characters created by himself. One wall shows drawings in black and white, one wall shows coloured drawings.

La Maison d’Aneli January/February 2020 – Aneli Abeyante

At La Maison d’Aneli Kara Mellow presents his art around the themes “Brain” and “Pink, the new Black”. The notecard with the artist biography reads as follows:
“Kara Mellow is considered one of the greatest truglucists of all time. He creates beautiful emptiness out of ugly plenitude. As a confessed Obliviousonist he likes cheese in words and he hates Siri. The latency of this love-hate binomial is more than evident in his work yet to be done, like “March”, Mellow’s favorite month and, at same time, his second most hated synced motion.“

His art is quite intriguing and he likes to provoke and to exaggerate. I like in particular his “Petflix” corner where you can kneel down for binge watching the void.

Adwehe is quite new in Second Life. At La Maison d’Aneli Adwehe created a room mainly filled with 3D objects in different geometrical forms. You can climb up on them or sit on spheres and become part the art yourself. At the walls some pictures are displayed. Adwehe seems to like ladders.

I ended my visit at La Maison d’Aneli visiting the seperate art space “La Serre” which features Quadrapop Lane.
“Quadrapop has been building in Second Life since 2007. In RL Quadrapop has a background in Art History and Graphic Design and is a mixed media artist.
Fascinated by the possibilities that virtual creation provides for the artist, Quadrapop focused on those aspects that are least like physical real life. Utilising phantom prims, alpha textures, one way transparency, flexible prims, lack of gravity, and the lighting and surface effects created by projected lights when combined with normal and specular layers, quadrapop creates contemplative abstractions that are not possible (or very difficult/costly) to create in RL.”

La Maison d’Aneli January/February 2020 – Quadrapop Lane

You enter a colourful space filled with light. I had the impression of being in the control room of a spaceship. Everywhere you look you see different colours, different objects. Quadrapop plays with light and effects and with the transparancy of phantom objects. There’re two levels at “La Serre” connected by a spiral staircase. And there’s a teleport pad that leads you to a labyrinth made of transperent coloured walls and surrounded by something that could be the space – or just abstract art. It was fun exploring and experiencing it.
